Job Details
Currently, Amgen is developing a Website Delivery Product to rapidly transform how healthcare websites are built and run to engage patients, caregivers, physicians and other partners. The Software Engineer will be a part of an agile product delivery team and will be responsible for leading the technology design for the development and operation of solutions and platforms that enable website delivery agility, resiliency and innovation to improve the digital experience for Amgen's customers.
Specifically, the Software Engineer understands and uses existing AWS cloud environments, Sitecore web content management systems and continuous integration/deployment applications that enable website developments teams to increase speed and quality to market for online content. This leader is accountable for ensuring projects and market activities are attuned to Amgen's technology strategy and will demonstrate a deep understanding of the software development lifecycle, agile delivery methods, web content management systems and the ability to implement and execute standard software architecture practices.
Responsibilities of the Sitecore Web Software Engineer include:
- Develops cloud hosted web applications using Sitecore CMS for external audiences
- Creates object-oriented design documentation that supports feature requirements
- Works with our QA team to ensure a smooth handoff for testing and provide support during the testing process
- Conducts performance tests on new and existing software for the purposes of correcting mistakes, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging
- Identifies and incorporates industry standard UI and design patterns and methodologies
- Cultivates and disseminates knowledge of application development standard methodologies within our organization
- Works with Scrum and Agile development processes
- Rapidly learns and evaluates emerging cloud development technologies
Basic Qualifications:
Master's degree
OR
Bachelor's degree and 2 years of software engineering experience
OR
Associate's degree and 6 years of software engineering experience
OR
High school diploma / GED and 8 years of software engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years hands-on experience with full-stack web development using .NET in an enterprise environment
- Intermediate level experience with Sitecore
- Experience using and developing against the Sitecore Web Experience Manager
- Experience with software engineering standards: unit testing, code reviews, design documentation, and continuous integration
- Experience with following technologies: ASP.NET MVC, REST API, REST, OAuth, CSS, Javascript, SQL Server (Transact SQL, Stored Procedures, Triggers), Entity Framework.
- Familiarity with various versions of Web CMS Platforms
- Strong Dev/Ops background and familiarity with various versions of .NET frameworks and .NET core
- Experience using source control systems like GIT and Software development lifecycle experience and (source control, multiple environments, code migration, source control, unit testing)
- Consistent record of evaluating, bug fixing and improving web, API and Windows Service, console-based applications
- Experience working in an Agile development environment and analytical skills and problem-solving ability, including the ability to research and trouble-shoot application issues
- Strong collaboration skills across small and large project teams (QA, outside vendors, project managers, business sponsors) as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated and driven individual with demonstrated personal ownership of tasks and tenacious approach to finding and fixing the root cause of issues
- Experience with cloud development patterns and architecture is preferred as is experience with Design Systems development
- Experience with Bootstrap and responsive design and an in-depth knowledge of modern HTML5 and CSS
- A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices
- Adequate knowledge of relational database systems, Object Oriented Programming and web application development
