Job Details
Function/Scope:
Senior Accountant position will be responsible for month-end close procedures, including management estimates for clinical costs, financial statement analysis, and process improvement projects.
Duties and Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:
• Manage month and quarterly close processes, including preparing and posting journal entries and maintaining reconciliations, with a focus on accuracy and timeliness
• Analyze and manage management accrual estimates, including holding discussions with department heads regarding costs incurred for manufacturing, clinical trials, and pre-clinical studies
• Identify and implement improvements to create more efficient accounting processes and timely close
• Documentation of month end close processes and internal controls, in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley and in accordance with the Company's financial processes
• Assist in system implementation projects to streamline processes as necessary
• Correspond with external auditors regarding quarterly and annual work and answer questions as necessary
• Correspond with vendors as needed

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be a self-starter
• Independence, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work in a team environment are essential
• Detail oriented with the ability to maintain a very high level of accuracy
• Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Possess strong problem-solving and organizational skills
• Detail-oriented with strong commitment to accuracy
• Able to multi-task and manage priorities effectively
• Self-motivated to take on new tasks and establish goals and objectives
• Demonstrate absolute discretion when dealing with confidential matters
• Able to work independently with limited supervision and cooperatively as a team
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
• 3-5 years related experience, preferably in the biopharmaceutical industry.
• Experience with the following is preferred: public company activities, managing third party vendors, internal controls.
• MS Dynamics Great Plains experience is required
• Proficient with MS Office with advanced knowledge of Excel.
• Possess a firm understanding of the principles and practices of accrual-based accounting and financial record keeping.
