Amgen is seeking a Senior Scientist (Attribute Sciences) to join our team and work from our beautiful Cambridge, Mass campus. To learn more about this position:

The Materials Science team within Attribute Sciences provides scientific expertise and technical support to Amgen's commercial, clinical and development portfolio. The Senior Scientist will serve as a subject matter expert in materials (e.g. plastics, rubbers, elastomers, etc.) of single-use systems for biopharmaceutical manufacturing. They will use their knowledge of the application of single-use technologies, single-use component capabilities, and the raw material composition of the systems to define target attribute profiles, support the development of attribute-driven specifications, and evaluate raw material related risks to ensure the selection of single-use technologies is based upon an understanding of how the material attributes impact process performance and product quality. In addition, they will provide technical evaluations for supplier change notifications and change controls.

The Senior Scientist will assist with troubleshooting activities and investigations associated with single-use technologies and will also support our interactions with regulatory agencies through the support of submissions, questions, and during inspections. This role will involve building and maintaining effective cross-functional collaborations with peers from across the Amgen network, as well as, our vendors to ensure an uninterrupted supply of quality single-use systems to Amgen. This position may include site technical visits and the opportunity to drive strategic improvement projects within Amgen and with our vendors.

Working in a matrixed global team environment, this position will develop and implement state-of-the-art materials and connected technologies to enable advanced single-use integrated solutions to advance the next generation of products and processes at Amgen.

10% travel: Domestic and International

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree, plus 2 years of directly related industry experience

OR

Master's degree, plus 5 years of directly related industry experience

OR

Bachelor's degree, plus 7 years of directly related industry experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctorate degree in Materials Science & Engineering, Polymer Chemistry, Plastics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other relevant discipline and 3 plus years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or other related industry involving the implementation or application of single-use technologies

Experience with upstream and downstream processing

Experience with statistical data analysis such as design of experiments, regression, and multivariate statistics

Experience with data visualization and analytical software (i.e. Spotfire, JMP, Tableau)

Knowledge or direct experience with state-of-the art advanced materials and data acquisition

Demonstrated external scientific track record which may include peer reviewed publications, scientific conference participation or participation in industry working groups or panels

Advanced scientific writing, problem solving skills and abilities with technology commercialization

Previous experience working in a regulated environment and previous experience with interacting with regulatory agencies
