R&D Specialist, Infectious Diseases

SUMMARY/POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Regeneron is seeking a highly motivated Research Specialist to join a group focused on development of novel technologies and therapeutics for the treatment of infectious diseases. Infectious disease experience is not required. Applicants highly skilled in the following techniques are desired: immune cell (e.g. T cell, B cell, antigen presenting cells) characterization and functional assays, models of virus infection, tumor models, multicolor flow cytometry, plate-based cell assays. Must have experience carrying out experiments and performing data analysis with minimum supervision. Applicants should be able to perform routine tasks involved in research with cells, including basic safety procedures in a BSL2 environment. Must either have experience or be willing to learn to work with small animal models. This position will involve working in a fast-paced, group-oriented, stimulating environment and is ideally suited for someone interested in greatly expanding their skills and knowledge base.

Responsibilities:

• Incumbent will function as part of a virology research group. The ultimate goal is to design, validate and develop therapeutic reagents for the treatment and/or prevention of virus infections
• Maintain a laboratory working routinely in a BSL2+ environment (biosafety level 2 or higher)
• Utilize techniques in cell biology and virology to culture viruses as necessary, perform ELISAs and viral growth
• assays, including plaque formation and cytopathic effect assays
• Perform standard molecular biology techniques on DNA/RNA and protein reagents (e.g. DNA/RNA extraction, RT-
• PCR/PCR, plasmid cloning, Western blot analysis)
• Evaluate infectious disease models for immunological parameters
• Evaluate therapeutics in vitro using basic molecular biology/immunological assays
• Evaluate therapeutics in vivo using mouse models of diseases

TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Cell culture, basic molecular biology/biochemistry, flow cytometry, virology.

CORE COMPETENCIES:
Incumbent should be able to perform tasks involved in running virology/immunology research including viral culture techniques and basic safety procedures in BSL2 laboratory. Experience with immune cell assays and multicolor flow cytometry is preferred. Understanding and previous experience on virology and immunology would be distinct advantages.

Experience:
Master's desired.
At least 2 years research experience
