Summary
The Therapeutic Proteins group is looking for a Staff Scientist to search and explore various types of small molecules in multi-therapeutic areas, lead in Medicinal chemistry optimization and develop new linkers and conjugation methods to conjugate and characterize novel antibody drug conjugates (ADCs).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
• Provide innovative and effective leadership in Medicinal chemistry optimization of early leads to candidate selection
• Design novel conjugation and characterization methods involving novel payloads and linkers, as well as conjugation sites.
• Design small molecular payloads and linkers, as well as linker-payloads, to be conjugated with proteins.
• Collaborate with cross-functional research teams and external CRO teams.
• Plan and effectively employ external chemistry resources deliver high quality compounds for biological evaluation
• Contribute to departmental strategies. Presentation of research programs at internal and external meetings
Experience with following additional skill and experience is plus:
• Solid-phase conjugation technology for parallel conjugations of antibodies with payloads to enable high-throughput conjugations to shorten ADC development timelines
• Bio-orthogonal conjugations, and implement site-specific and parallel conjugations, and perform purification and chariterization of ADCs.
Requirements:
• PhD in Chemistry with ~10 years of relevant industrial/academic research and drug discovery/development experience.
• Deep understanding of all aspects of small molecule drug discovery, including medicinal/process chemistry, biology, biomarker, pharmacology, DMPK, pharmaceutical sciences, safety and toxicology.
• Extensive research experience and knowledge to design and develop novel small moleculer bioactive compounds, and antibody drug conjugates (ADCs) and conjugation methods
• Excellent organization skills as an individual contributor and in leading or co-leading multidisciplinary drug discovery project teams are desired
• Excellent data analysis skills and strong verbal and written communication skills, as well experience understanding and drafting patent applications
