Job Summary:

Individual will be responsible for the strategic planning and leading the execution of global oncology congresses and branding activities. Individual will liaise closely with the Global Brand Teams, Global Medical Affairs, Regional teams, Conventions/Meetings team and agency partners to ensure the successful organization of all aspects of Daiichi Sankyo global oncology congress presence.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of the annual strategic plan for global oncology congresses partnering closely with Global Medical Affairs and the Conventions and Meetings team. Includes identification of key congresses and rationale for level of DS sponsorship and activities.
  • Lead the execution of all key global oncology congress-related activities across multi-disciplinary teams (e.g. R&D, Medical, Marketing and global colleagues) to ensure alignment and optimization of activities in support of the Oncology franchise. Responsibilities include convening and leading the Joint Steering Committee meetings in addition to overseeing the execution teams to coordinate all elements of congress planning such as sponsorship activities, booth design and logistics, on-site preconference and other key meetings, scientific exchange activities, media events and competitive intelligence. Functional leads will have direct accountability for certain activities, but the Director will coordinate, in addition to ensuring adherence to aligned congress objectives.
  • Act as direct liaison to Meetings and Conventions team to oversee all booth development, implementation of congress registration, communications and on-site coordination.
  • Lead management of creative agency and budget control and evaluation of individual congress projects.
  • Ensure all strategies, tactics, and activities are compliant with DS policies.

Expected to attend multiple global congresses throughout the year (international and domestic).

Qualifications
Successful candidates will be able to meet the qualifications below with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Education/Experience:
  • BA or BS degree required, emphasis in health sciences is preferred; MBA or advanced scientific degree is preferred.
  • 10+ years in pharmaceutical/biotech commercial industry experience required. Established competency in global congress planning.
  • Oncology therapeutic area experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills, presentation skills, networking, collaboration, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Proven ability to think strategically and creatively in addition to executing congress plans on-time and on-budget.
  • Solid problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proven skills in project planning and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to operational plans.
  • Compliance acumen; demonstrated understanding of the legal and regulatory environment
  • 35% travel required both domestic and international
