Job Details

Position Overview

Implements, improves and optimizes production procedures and processes.

Responsibilities include, scale-up and transfer of chemical processes from the laboratory into production. Develops scalable chemical processes with improved product yield and reduced cost. Assists with the selection and evaluation of production equipment. May research and implement new methods and technologies to enhance operation. This job contributes to and supports the company's research and development efforts to create high value therapeutics to address unmet medical needs.

Works on problems of diverse scope in which analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Under moderate supervision, performs small scale experiments and assists with the design of experiments following appropriate laboratory/technical procedures. Under moderate supervision, performs chemical synthesis and purification of product utilizing a variety of laboratory equipment following appropriate laboratory/technical procedures. Performs analysis with some interpretation of analytical data. Assists with the transfer of processes to manufacturing. Assists with the preparation of technical reports, summaries, protocols, and/or quantitative analyses. Uses professional concepts in accordance with company objectives to help solve semi-routine technical problems. Maintains accurate and well-organized laboratory records, worksheets and notebooks. Maintains current training requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.

A minimum of a Bachelors degree in a scientific discipline is required. Equivalent experience may be accepted. A minimum of 2 years work experience in a laboratory environment is preferred. A minimum of 1 year work experience in a GMP environment is preferred. Previous hands on practical laboratory experience with an ability to use analytical equipment is required. Must have a demonstrated working knowledge of scientific principles and mathematical skills. Must possess basic decision-making skills. Must possess good oral and written communication skills. Must possess sound judgment. Must possess problem solving abilities. Organizational skills are required. Computer skills are required. Working knowledge of MS word, Excel, Power point is a plus. Must be willing to work as part of a team and demonstrate good interpersonal skills.

Employees must be able to lift or handle objects greater than 25 pounds to perform certain duties essential to the job function. Employees may be required to perform tasks essential to the job function in areas that require the use of hearing protection devices. Performance of tasks essential to the job function may require the employee to work directly with, handle, or otherwise come into contact with chemicals or pharmaceutical agents. Employees must be able to wear a respiratory protection (filtering facepiece, 1/2 face, full-face, or powered air purifying respirator, supplied air, or self contained breathing apparatus) for certain tasks essential to the job function. Employees must be able to gain access to elevated work surfaces via vertical ladders or stairs to perform tasks essential to the job function. Employees must be able to able to accurately detect color and have 20/20 vision (with/without corrective lenses). Employees may be required to enroll in a medical surveillance program based on the potential exposure to certain health hazards encountered as a result of their job function.
