Job Summary:

The Associate Director Patient Advocacy will implement regional and disease specific engagement strategies with patient advocacy groups in key regions focused on specific disease area. This individual will contribute to direction of key advocacy partners; engage patient organizations focused on areas of most interest to Daiichi Sankyo's vision for the future. This role will look for opportunities to collaborate and expand the partnership and help identify areas that Daiichi Sankyo can engage strategically.

Responsibilities:
Implement patient engagement strategy:
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional and regional teams to implement a compliant patient engagement strategy that meets the strategic direction of the organization
  • Implement approach to managing and enhancing DSCE relationships with key patient communities
  • Work collaboratively with internal colleagues on awareness campaigns in line with market entry objectives
Educate internal teams on the infrastructure of global advocacy and how to best embed patient centric focus during key awareness months:
  • Implement short-and long-term tactical plans that showcase advocacy opportunities for specific disease areas of interest. Prioritize areas of focus based on launch timelines. Works closely with the Sr. Director, Patient Advocacy in implementing activities related to evidence generation and information sharing
  • Acquire feedback and perspective from patients, families, caregivers and others within the patient support community. Apply gained insights to business decisions related to addressing patient needs and providing impactful solutions and services that support them in their cancer journey.
Qualifications

Education/Experience:
  • Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in science, social science or related field from an accredited college or university. B.S. with 7+ years, 5+ with M.S., of progressive, related experience in a healthcare or social services;
  • Prior experience either working with or working for patient advocacy organizations and related groups. Must have a broad network of established relationships with oncology advocacy groups. Global advocacy engagement is a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills with a proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse groups of people and audiences
  • Strong practical sense to gather needs from different stakeholders and able to translate these needs into concrete and meaningful initiatives to benefit patients in Oncology
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including strong presentation skills; competent and confident in presenting to senior leadership.
  • Ability to influence in a proactive, objective and diplomatic manner within all levels of the company and outside community leaders to assess solutions and provide proposals
  • Works collaboratively, independently and with a sense of urgency. Able to prioritize areas of strategic importance to the company and to help articulate to senior management
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Ability to use both strategic and tactical approaches to problem-solving and multi-tasking
  • Expertise with online and offline strategies, tools, and techniques for research, engagement, collaboration, and feedback.
  • Able to summarize complex medical and scientific concepts using layman's terms to successfully communicate to target patient/advocate audience
  • Awareness of external trends and changes in regulation in order to proactively adjust internal processes
  • Ability to facilitate and influence decision making to drive results
  • Proven ability to drive pragmatic solutions to complex problems
  • Ability to travel up to 50% both domestic and international.
