Summary
Regeneron is currently seeking a talented and motivated R&D Associate to join a technology development group which aims to develop novel viral vectors. The successful candidate should have a strong background in molecular biology, virology, and cell biology. Experience working with NGS library prep, Illumina library QC, and NGS sequencing platforms is a plus. Incumbent should be able to work methodically and with minimal supervision. His/her main goal will be to design and produce viral vectors, and to characterize them by performing various in vitro and in vivo assays. Experience with molecular cloning, tissue culture and handling cell lines is required.
Specific experience should include molecular biology, basic biochemistry, mammalian cell culture, and manipulation and purification of viruses in BSL2 conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Perform research requiring molecular biology techniques including qPCR, ddPCR, RNA and DNA isolation and purification from tissues samples.
  • Perform high throughput sequencing (prepare and QC NGS libraries, trouble-shooting, and analyzing)
  • Maintain, transfect, and transduce mammalian cell cultures
  • Produce, purify, quantify, and characterize viral vectors
  • Perform assays to characterize and assess quality of viral vectors
  • Evaluate virus transduction and transgene expression
  • Perform basic biochemical/immunological assays (Western blotting, ELISA, flow cytometry)
  • Manipulate viral vectors in BSL2 cell culture Analyze and present data
  • Maintain lab supplies, lab equipment, and help with lab organization

Requirements:

TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Molecular biology, cell culture, virology, basic biochemistry, cell biology, flow cytometry, experience with virus/protein purification

CORE COMPETENCIES:
  • Incumbent should be skilled in molecular biology, standard cloning tecniques.
  • Incumbent should have experience in virus manipulation and culturing techniques
  • Incumbent should be able to design experminets, analyze and interpret data and extract conclusions
  • Incumbent should have experience with basic safety procedures and sterile techniques required for BSL2 laboratory function
  • Understanding and experience with nucleic acid manipulation including understanding of Illumina library prep protocols and extensive and diverse experiences in preparing Illumina libraries will be a distinct advantage
  • Experience with virus/protein purification is strongly desired.
  • Understanding of and experience with in vitro and in vivo assays with viral vectors is desired.
  • Minimum 3 years of research experience. Master's degree desired.
