Position Overview:

The Director Product Communications, position reports to the Vice President, North American Communications and will support and drive communications for all of Ipsen's U.S. and Canada products and development pipeline. S/he will serve as a strategic partner to develop and implement communications strategies and plans that help drive the success of the company's portfolio. The role will focus on collaborating with cross-functional partners, including commercial, medical, patient advocacy, among others, to deliver effective communications through traditional and social media. Key responsibilities include developing product communications plans and leading brand-level communications activities from pre-launch through product lifecycle management.

The candidate must have a strong interest and aptitude for understanding the biopharmaceutical industry and its regulatory and reimbursement environment, the ability to comprehend and translate high-science content for a lay audience, and to collaborate with personnel throughout the company, as well as external audiences. Candidates must have exceptional writing skills and be able to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.

Job Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Manage and lead day-to-day communications activities for Ipsen's approved and development pipeline, including support for medical congresses, regulatory milestones, data unblindings and launch preparation efforts.
  • Develop and execute product communications plans and programs to communicate about the company's programs.
  • Manage creation of materials to support brand communications and maintain all communications collateral materials.
  • Identify potential brand and franchise-related issues and develop proactive issues management strategies.
  • Serve as liaison and communications advisor for key internal stakeholders in Medical Affairs, Access, Commercial, Regulatory, Government Affairs, Legal and other functions.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key healthcare, business and trade reporters.
  • Manage relationships and budgets with external agencies.
  • Ensure alignment between North American and global communications teams.
  • Complies with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Ipsen U.S. staff
  • This position includes approximately 30% local and international travel


Requirements:

Education

Minimum Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Business, English or related field

Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in biotech/PR communications with excellent communication, writing and editing skills
  • Experience in product communications, crisis and issues management
  • Exceptional project and time management skills with ability to lead and manage multiple projects from conception to completion and gather metrics to measure success
  • Strong media experience and successful track record as a spokesperson
  • Ability to engage with senior leadership to offer strong communication counsel and work with people at all levels of an organization to complete projects in a challenging, demanding, and rapidly changing environment with a "can-do" spirit and flexibility
  • Thorough understanding of the regulatory environment and the industry norms
