SUMMARY

The Specialist IS System Business Analyst will be part of the Information Systems (IS) and be responsible for technical leadership, delivering and continuously improving the AML Information Systems - Manufacturing Intelligence capabilities and solutions with aim to enable operations staff to easily and securely access and use data required to make well informed business decisions and to improve business capabilities of Amgen Operations with focus on Manufacturing processes.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
  • The candidate needs to have a working knowledge of Process Control systems (e.g. PLCs, SCADA, DCS, etc.), with an extensive and highly proficient Data Historians experience in OSI PI platform to support the manufacturing processes.
  • Manages medium to large projects that involve/impact more than 1department/functional area. Balances a workload of several projects.
  • Champions best practices of the organization.
  • Engages in vendor management (manages day to day resources) including contractual negotiations.
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of objectives and processes in more than 1 department/functional area supported.
  • Applies project management, leadership skills and conventions to create, modify or expand extremely complex information systems, related processes and programs on medium to large projects.
  • Oversees and participates in system design and development.
  • Leads medium to large, cross-organizational project teams and facilitates meetings as well as team presentations for senior management.
  • Develops complex project plans for medium to large projects, including statements of work, scope, resources, requirements, timelines and tracking/reporting for each assigned project.
  • Facilitates medium to large project teams to determine and interpret client requirements for project plans, deliverables and acceptance criteria.
  • Develops, communicates and implements solutions and measurements to meet productivity, quality and client satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Anticipates, evaluates and resolves multiple, simultaneous project issues, delays and problems by utilizing project management and business expertise.
  • Manages testing and implementation phases of medium to large size, complex projects that potentially impact more than 1 department/ functional area.
  • Conducts post-implementation assessment of projects to assure business requirements have been met across more than 1 department/functional area.
  • Promotes and develops communication and coordination between project teams and management of more than 1 department/functional area.
  • Creates or oversees the creation of appropriate documentation, including but not limited to: agendas, minutes, project spending, scheduling resources, capturing accomplishments, etc.
  • Identifies and communicates technical approach, project deliverables and standards for project quality.
  • May mentor lower level employees and develop best project management practices.
  • Ensures compliance with practices, policies, procedures, legal requirements and goals of project sponsors and approved methodologies.
  • Develops supporting documentation and monitors budget tracking, timeliness and scheduled resources for projects that potentially impact/involve more than 1 department/ functional area.
  • Represents more than 1 department/functional area in the area of implementation. Understands the business, drivers and strategy, and is an advocate for the business.
  • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines.
  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.
  • Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
  • Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources.
  • Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.


BASIC EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree & 5 years of information systems experience within a GMP regulated industry

OR

Master's degree & 3 years of information systems experience within a GMP regulated industry

OR

Doctorate degree

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong knowledge in OSI PI Historian
  • Relational database / SQL fundamentals (Oracle and MS SQL)
  • Knowledge in any of the following reporting/ visualization tools: Business Object, Crystal reports, RT Reports, Spotfire, Tableau
  • Client server fundamentals
  • Data interfaces/data conversion
  • Network/infrastructure fundamentals
  • Manufacturing Execution Systems fundamentals
  • Rockwell Process Control/ Automation systems experience
  • Software development life cycle
  • Software quality methodologies
  • Computer Systems and Security
  • Regulatory knowledge and interactions
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with technical and management staff within manufacturing, process development, and quality
  • Organizational, technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Project management skills
  • Availability to support non-standard shift
  • Experience in Root Cause Analysis (Fishbone, 5 Why's, Kepner Tregoe)
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish
