Purpose of Position:

The Research Scientist III is responsible for independently designing, executing and reporting analytical tasks including method development activities, for one or more projects to support research and development primarily focused on oligonucleotides.

Key Responsibilities:

-Provide analytical support to Process Development and Manufacturing and help develop analytical methods for oligonucleotide characterization.

-Develop new analytical applications and technology.

-Perform GDP and technical review within multiple projects.

-Author scientific and regulatory documentation (e.g. validation protocols and specifications).

-Provide technical and professional leadership in project and inter-departmental meetings.

-Improve laboratory compliance.

-Provide intermediate to advanced-level training in lab techniques and procedures.

-Plan, track, execute, and review team-tasks to deliver project results on time.

-Communicate with clients and resolve issues in consultation with laboratory management.

-Develop and contribute to departmental objectives for continuous improvement and technical excellence.

Job Experience and Technical Skills:

-Degree in Chemistry or related field. PhD with 2+ years or MS with 5+ years to BA/BS with 7+ years of related work experience.

-Supervise/mange staff as needed.

-Analytical chemistry knowledge including theory and application of fundamental, chromatographic, and spectroscopic techniques for identification, purity, and assay of various analytes.

-Operate and troubleshoot available instruments such as HPLC and MS.

-Independently learn new instruments and techniques.

-Intermediate Word, Excel PowerPoint.

-Perform common algebraic and statistical calculations correctly.

-Proficient in technical-writing and presentations to internal sites

-Author and revise laboratory SOPs

-Competency to think strategically and conceptually to apply quality by design principles when designing experiments.

-Knowledge and application of cGMPs and regulatory guidance documents.
