Position Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Protein Biochemist at the Post-Doctoral Scientist level to join the Department of Protein Therapeutics.

The successful candidate will ensure the design, development, execution and implementation of protein chemistry research to characterize the structural basis for the activity of a protein therapeutic molecule. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to high-impact publications.

The candidate will work on problems of moderate scope in which analysis of situation or data requires a review of identifiable factors. He or she will exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action; will be responsible for performing research in collaboration with others both intra and inter departmentally; and make detailed observations, analyze data and interpret results. Furthermore, the candidate will exercise technical discretion in the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project strategies; prepare technical reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative analyses; and maintain familiarity with scientific literature.

A PhD in a scientific discipline is required. Experience working in a research environment is preferred. Experience in protein purification and analytical methods, including HPLC, LC/MS, CE/MS, IEX, SEC-MALS, SDS-PAGE is desired. Should be able to demonstrate a potential for technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others and an appropriate level of independent thought. Must be able to compose sound written work with moderate assistance. Must possess good oral and written communication skills. Must be able to demonstrate good judgment. Must have demonstrated problem solving abilities. Strong organizational skills are required. Good computer skills are required. Working knowledge of MS word, Excel, Power point is a plus. Must be willing to work as part of a team and demonstrate good interpersonal skills.

This is a 2 year term Post Doctoral Opportunity.
