To continue this important work, we are recruiting a Senior Manager, Corporate Affairs to join our team.

What great looks like in this role

Our ideal Senior Manager, Corporate Affairs is a proactive, solution-oriented, strategic thinker who can manage the Corporate Affairs function and activities in The Netherlands across all franchises and products.

Objectives of this Role

You will co-develop and implement a Corporate Affairs Strategy (Public Policy, Government Relations, Patient Relations and Communication) that supports both the short and long-term objectives of Celgene.

You report to the Director of Market Access and Corporate Affairs (MACA) but works in close collaboration with Management Team Members and the Celgene Disease Teams.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

Management

 

  • In cooperation with the Director Market Access & Corporate Affairs, development and implementation of Corporate Affairs Strategy in coordination with/support to other functions and franchises.
  • Ensure effective budget planning and management for the Corporate Affairs function.
  • Participation in internal regional meetings to ensure optimal alignment with the regional Celgene Corporate Affairs team.


Government Affairs

 

 

  • Develop and maintain a relevant network with key external decision makers, health politicians, trade associations and other policy stakeholders.
  • Monitor pharmaceutical policy developments in the Dutch Health Care System the earliest stage and regularly brief the Director MACA and General Manager.
  • Early identification of planned changes in the legal and policy framework related to Celgene's business, in terms of opportunities and threats, informing relevant functions of the organization about the upcoming changes.
  • Develop and implement strategies to shape policy and legislative initiatives that are relevant to Celgene priorities.
  • Coordinate a Trade Association Strategy involving all Celgene representatives active in the Trade Associations.
  • Support the Medical Team members in preparation of external meetings with Trade Associations or key external decision-makers.


Market Access Policy

 

 

  • In alignment with the Director MACA, support the Market Access team by:

- Defining Corporate Affairs priorities that will support and facilitate individual P&R negotiations.
- Defining Policy objectives that will enhance regulatory and political environment that improves patients' access to innovation.
- Building Celgene reputation and partnership with "payers".

 

 

  • Acquire essential information about pharmaceutical developments in the Health Care System in The Netherlands at the earliest stage and deliver specific and consolidated information to the Director MACA in an efficient way (monitoring and identifying opportunities and threats for Celgene`s products, specific terms of pricing and reimbursement).


Communication

 

 

  • Establish and implement Celgene corporate messaging for Celgene The Netherlands.
  • Work together with internal stakeholders and PR agencies, journalists to ensure that messages are clear and appropriate.
  • Responsible for internal communication and CSR engagement.
  • Develop and execute a communication plan to help increase Celgene's reputation towards key stakeholders.
  • Develop Media Plans for specific projects/activities (media event, press release).
  • Make sure that affiliate spokespersons are regularly trained for media interactions.


Patient Advocacy

 

 

  • Build strong partnerships with Patient Advocacy Groups in compliance with applicable standards and regulation and aligned with Celgene values.
  • Develop and execute projects in collaboration with Patient Advocacy groups.
  • Serve as the internal spokesperson for the assigned patient organizations to support strategic decisions and develop tactics to address needs/issues.


Knowledge and skills required

 

 

  • Degree-level educated with relevant education (MA in Law, Economics, Political Sciences or MS in Pharmacy, Medical Biology etc.)
  • Solid experience working in either a government or public affairs consultancy or in-house. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement a Corporate Affairs Strategy in line with Business priorities.
  • Expert networker with strong contacts in the media, patient groups, KOLs, and healthcare community.
  • A team player, with skills and experience from project management in a matrix organization.
  • Necessary scientific and interpersonal skills to interface effectively with key decision makers and opinion leaders.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Fluency in Dutch and English.
  • Recognized competence in providing strategic advice and a willingness to work on unfamiliar and challenging topics.


Preferred knowledge and skills

 

 

  • Previous experience in healthcare NGOs, authorities, healthcare media will be considered as an advantage.
  • Previous experience / specialization in healthcare and pharmaceutical industry is highly relevant.
