Overall Responsibilities


Primary responsibilities for this position are to implement and maintain production plans based upon sales forecasts and customer orders to achieve plant operating efficiency and customer service levels. Ensure the efficient use of raw materials. Analyze, recommend, schedule and report production results in relation to plant facilities and staff requirements. Plans, schedules, and monitors the movement of materials through the production cycle.
MAJOR DUTIES OF POSITION
  • Scope of this role includes global capacity planning for finished goods and components across product categories. Includes close interaction with third-party manufacturers in understanding true capacity constraints in the short and long term.
  • Responsible to provide capacity input to Integrated Business Planning (IBP) and Third Party Manufacturing (TPM) process and IBP demand control process.
  • Work cross-functional with international commercial operations, finances, R&D, program and global sourcing teams to ensure market successfully new product introductions, improved product availability, and thorough understanding of component and finished goods capacity and constraints.
  • Responsible for running the Rough-cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) process to streamline capacity availability.
  • Provides Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP) as necessary to support the outbound shipping of finished goods by the plant Logistics Dept. Communicates “hot” load information.
  • Plans and prepares production schedules for manufacture of clinical or commercial products.
  • Draws up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
  • Analyzes production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements.
  • Prepares and coordinates the production schedule.
  • Issues work or production orders in SAP system ensuring that they are processed through manufacturing and support departments to meet customer demand.
  • Informs Supply Chain of inventory requirements dictated work order demand. Oversees raw materials and accessories supply and inventory levels. Plans and ensures the flow of materials to the production floor.
  • Monitors Bill of Material changes to insure that the correct revisions are made to all related processes.
  • Oversees and assists in maintaining the routings and the Bill of Materials in the SAP system.
  • Monitors data entered on work orders for completeness and accuracy.
  • Develop an interactive feedback with the employees to assist in identifying potential problems at each stage of production.
  • May prepare and/or assist in presenting departmental performance reports to top Management; resolve problems and negotiate solutions.
  • Assumes additional related responsibilities as required.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Management or related discipline equivalent with a minimum of 5 to 8 years of job-related experience, including three years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading an ERP implementation team, SAP a plus.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to plan strategically across production.
  • Results driven leadership, with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment with shifting priorities and multiple deadlines.
  • Frequent contact with internal personnel to exchange information, coordinate projects and/or solve problems.
  • Nature of this work is complex and involves the coordination of staff resources in and outside the department. Often the individuals being directed will not be direct reports. Such team building skills are important and necessary to the overall success of the candidate.
  • Ability to problem solve and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Advanced Excel skills essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Preferred:
  • CPIM qualification (or studying towards) an advantage.
  • Medical Device manufacturing experience
  • Lean manufacturing experience
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and corrective action programs
  • APICS
  • CPIM
