Amgen's Cardio-metabolic department based in South San Francisco is looking for a highly qualified and motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to investigate signaling pathways regulating pacemaker cell function and sinoatrial node (SAN) architecture.

This position is mentored collaboratively by Drs. Yen-Sin Ang (Amgen) and Vasanth Vedantham (UCSF) and the successful candidate will work at Amgen and UCSF to implement multiple in vitro and in vivo techniques.

Apart from typical cellular and molecular biology techniques, the candidate will employ human induced pluripotent stem cell models and genetically engineered mouse models, confocal and light sheet microscopy, as well as electro-physiological approaches to study SAN function and heart rhythm. Manuscript publications and meeting presentations will occur immediately with the outcomes of the project. This unique opportunity to co-train in an academic and industrial environment will strongly prepare the postdoctoral fellow for the biomedical workforce.

Basic Qualifications

Ph.D. and/or M.D. at the time of appointment

Preferred Qualifications

Research experience in cardiovascular biology, as demonstrated by a track record of outstanding publications

Skilled in the following techniques: human pluripotent stem cell culture and differentiation, designing and phenotyping genetic mouse models, high resolution microscopy of histological sections, and electro-physiology.
