Summary
We are seeking a creative and self-motivated scientist to join our team focused on novel therapeutics for genetic disorders, including lysosomal diseases. This person will investigate how the immune system responds to different gene therapy modalities and investigate methods to modulate those responses. This person will also contribution to the evaluation and development of novel gene therapy modalities and immunomodulatory agents.
Responsibilities
• Design and execution of both in vitro and in vivo experiments to investigate the immune responses to gene therapy vectors and cargoes
• Design and execution of both in vitro and in vivo experiments to investigate methods to modulate the immune response to gene therapy vectors and cargoes, including the design, construction, and testing of novel immunomodulatory agents
• Develop a deep understanding of the literature surrounding the area of focus, and stay up-to-date on the latest findings
• Communicate and present findings in intra- and inter-departmental meetings, meetings with senior management, at external conferences, in patents, and in scientific manuscripts
• Maintain accurate experimental records, including a detailed lab notebook updated in a timely and comprehensive manner
• Think critically and creatively about the scientific questions at hand and contribute to new innovation
• Work collaboratively with scientists and research associates throughout the company to drive the science forward
Requirements
• The candidate must have a PhD plus 2-5 years of experience
• Some experience working with animal models is essential
• A strong background in immunology is essential
• Familiarity with techniques such as molecular cloning, genome editing/CRISPR, cell culture, histology, ELISA, Elispot, Western blotting, flow cytometry, and confocal microscopy is highly desired
• Familiarity with enzyme replacement therapy, gene therapy, glycobiology, or lysosomal function/lysosomal disorders is a plus
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required
• Ability to both work independently and collaborate with other scientists and research associates is essential
• Excellent publication record is highly desirable
