Amgen's Neuroscience Research Therapeutic Area based in Cambridge, MA is looking for a highly qualified and motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to investigate the role of TDP-43 in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) as part of a collaboration with Massachusetts General Hospital. The successful candidate will work both, at Amgen and at MGH to implement manifold in vitro and in vivo experimental approaches to help identify and validate innovative therapeutic targets. These techniques include molecular biology, biochemistry, cell culture, immunoblotting, immunohistochemistry, microscopy, and the use of mouse models of disease.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Design and execute experimental strategies to understand how TDP-43 aggregation contributes to ALS.
  • Establish in vitro cell based models of TDP-43 aggregation (cell lines and/or iPSC)
  • Implementation of multiple state-of-the-art techniques in molecular biology, biochemistry, and microscopy
  • Analyze, interpret, and present experimental results at lab meetings.
  • Publish/present findings in peer-reviewed journals/scientific conferences.
  • Maintain accurate records of experiments and analyses.
  • Maintain effective communication with manager and other colleagues at both, Amgen and MGH.

The assignment length is expected to be 2 years

Basic Qualifications

Ph.D. at the time of appointment

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in Neuroscience or related field at the time of appointment

Previous first-author publication(s) in internationally recognized journals

Ability to meet aggressive timelines and deliverables in a collaborative environment

Excellent speaking, reading and writing skills

Strong analytical and organizational skills

Curiosity and a willingness to work independently
