The AML Learning and Development team is looking for an experienced staff development professional for our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, Amgen Manufacturing Limited in Juncos, Puerto Rico. As a Sr Associate Learning and Development, you will bring forth out of the box thinking, an agile mindset and proven subject matter expertise and innate understanding of developing and learning processes in support to a large-scale 24/7 manufacturing site.

After the completion of the onboarding and applicable trainings qualifications; you will set about to lead projects to improve human performance and to partner with functional areas assessing changes' impact on training and competencies strategy. You will also be instrumental to help develop and deliver meaningful training programs using a variety of teaching techniques or adapting and creating methods to meet the particular team's requirements. In addition, your deep understanding of the big picture will be vital as you help supporting deviation investigation related to human performance to develop an even more efficient learning method or technique around the site.


The L&D team consists of a highly talented and collaborative staff from different educational backgrounds (Natural Science, Psychology, Business and Engineering). Our site counts with a fully equipped Training building with training rooms dedicated to the learning and development process. The technologies in place provides to our team additional capabilities and flexibility of training options. We also count with a global network support to share the latest knowledge around learning alternatives and human performance. In this role, you will deliver, either in Spanish and /or English language, assigned trainings such as on-boarding, basic OJT, GMP related, among others following identified business needs. You have flexibility in your delivery method including a combination of classroom, one-on-one, and on-the-job training, sometimes complemented with eLearning activities and courses. You will also be accountable to conduct thorough needs analysis with area SMEs and in coordination with Site L&P management and resources; translate these requirements into an effective, efficient and relevant training and non-training solutions as part of performance improvement interventions to support business needs.

  • Delivers initial on boarding training for new hires and transfers.
  • Monitors and improve training assignment structures and learning management systems to ensure effective management by end-users (ex: system reporting, metrics, data analysis, etc.)
  • Provides guidance to client on compliance and regulatory training matters (ex. Audit readiness checks or internal inspections)
  • Coaches and develops SME and area's instructors for effective delivery and sustainment of trainings.
  • Assists clients in human performance assessments (ex: human error prevention and reduction) to identify training and non-training solutions.
  • Participates in the development/ implementation of corporate courses and initiatives with training impact (Ex: global project teams (if required)
  • Manage Business Partnering improvement projects and applies project management skills.
  • Partners with training resources to design and develop training materials applying basic instructional design tools to new or existing course materials(s) and monitors their effectiveness.
  • Facilitates meetings and proficiently manage decision-making processes within L&P and client groups
  • To be successful, you will require strong collaboration and partnership cross functionally to ensure the L&P processes, programs and initiates are executed in accordance with established procedures


Master's degree


Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience in GMP regulated environment

  • Educational background in Life Sciences, Engineering, Industrial Psychology, Arts and /or Business Administration
  • Validated expertise in Human Performance Improvement Interventions, Human Error, Combination Product, Medical Devices, Data integrity and Operational Excellence.
  • Robust knowledge of an experience in training roles and instructional design.
  • Knowledge with ADDIES (Instructional Design of Training Materials, Needs Assessments, Task Analysis, etc.)
  • Working knowledge on computer software programs including: Word, Excel, Power Point, Cognos and LMS software systems.
  • Innovative and skillfully at developing visual aids, job aids and multiple media, preferred.
  • Basic project management skills
  • Able to manage workflow, with minimal oversight, in a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands and sometimes changing priorities with resilience and adaptability.
  • Solid team work customer service orientation and influencing skills
  • Strong organizational skills, including ability to follow assignments through to completion
  • Enhanced skills in leading, influencing and negotiating
  • Solid word processing, presentation, database and spreadsheet application skills
  • Proficient in communication skills (reading, writing and verbal) both in English and Spanish.
  • Excellent interpersonal, group facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Availability to work flexible hours/ non-standard shifts (including weekends, first, second & third shift) may be required to meet production demands.
