Amgen is seeking a Corporate Affairs Manager - Intercontinental Communications to be based remotely within the United States. The Manager will report directly to the Intercontinental Region (ICON) and Japan Asia Pacific Region (JAPAC) directors of Corporate Affairs, who are based in Thousand Oaks, CA. and Hong Kong, respectively.

Consistent with the vision of Amgen Corporate Affairs to "proactively shape, drive and enhance the Amgen brand and reputation globally," the Manager will be primarily accountable for internal communications and developing and executing internal and external social media strategies, including overseeing social media listening in the region. The Manager will primarily be accountable for internal communications, with some external communications via corporate channels, including SharePoint sites, websites and other social media platform etc.

Key responsibilities of the Corporate Affairs Manager - Intercontinental Communications will include:
  • Assumes the responsibility of internal communications for the ICON and JAPAC Regions. Support the ICON and JAPAC Corporate Affairs directors to devise and execute internal communication strategies and programs in line with business objectives
  • Acts as the main contact point for ICON and JAPAC Region's internal communications
  • Develops and executes ICON & JAPAC regional internal comms strategy to support the region's short and long-term goals including:
  • Shines the spotlight across the company on the region's business milestones and progress;
  • Interviews and develops stories that would motivate, inspire and engage employees across the ICON and JAPAC Regions, and beyond, leveraging various communications vehicles
  • Continually evaluates communications impact and effectiveness and adjust accordingly to mirror the regions' rapid growth and communication needs
  • Leverages deep knowledge of the company and the network across all regions to deliver results in a productive and efficient manner
  • Provides strategic consulting for young regions such as JAPAC and ICON to continue to engagement employees in an impactful and inspirational way
  • Promotes company and regional image among stakeholders by developing and managing corporate communication materials, including but not limited to brochure, factsheets, videos, etc.
  • Promotes Amgen's business strategy, mission and values among employees to improve employee engagement
  • Organizes internal events, such as townhall meetings and/or develops communication plans for management team for these occasions
  • Stays abreast of and embrace new technologies and communications tools that will improve efficiency and effectiveness of internal communications


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree
OR
Master's degree and 2 years of Journalism and/or Communications experience
OR
Bachelor's degree and 4 years of Journalism and/or Communications experience
OR
Associate's degree and 10 years of Journalism and/or Communications experience

OR
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Journalism and/or Communications experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years' experience in communications, proven track record in corporate communications, ideally gained in pharmaceutical or healthcare industry
  • Experience in dealing with stakeholders at all levels
  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, Communications or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Outstanding English skills, both oral and written
  • Good presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Strong content development skills
  • Strong design and PowerPoint skills
  • Ability to work in complex matrix organizations
