Amgen is seeking a Corporate Affairs Manager - Brand and Sponsorship to be based at our corporate campus located in Thousand Oaks, California. The Manager will report directly to the Executive Director Corporate Affairs - Corporate Reputation & Functional Excellence.

The Corporate Affairs Manager - Brand and Sponsorship will help the Corporate Affairs team understand the overall value of the Amgen brand; manage the corporate brand presence, use of the Amgen name/brand; and oversee the process of fulfilling sponsorship requests when they are of promotional benefit to the company.

Key responsibilities of the Corporate Affairs Manager - Brand and Sponsorship will include:
  • Conducts periodic studies of the company's brand value in partnership with Director, Reputation Intelligence & Brand
  • Audits activities that determine global consistency and accurate use of Amgen's brand
  • Partners closely with the Content team on digital owned platform branding & GCO/R&D/Operations teams on branded activities
  • Seeks out appropriate sources of available data that put Amgen's brand value in context within its industry and as a publicly traded equity
  • Oversees & develops beneficial solutions for
  • Corporate repository & tools for branding
  • GCO, R&D and Operations usage of brand
  • Brand Center/ Content storage
  • Visitor Center & site branding
  • Develops a systematic approach to evaluate, track, process, and fulfill sponsorships that strategically enhance Amgen's brand externally


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

Or

Master's degree and 2 years of Corporate Communication and/or Corporate Affairs and/or Branding and/or Sponsorship experience

Or

Bachelor's degree and 4 years of Corporate Communication and/or Corporate Affairs and/or Branding and/or Sponsorship experience

Or

Associate's degree and 10 years of Corporate Communication and/or Corporate Affairs and/or Branding and/or Sponsorship experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Corporate Communication and/or Corporate Affairs and/or Branding and/or Sponsorship experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of increasingly progressive experience in Corporate Communication or Corporate Affairs, including specifically roles that required the use of branding or sponsorship activities to drive business results
  • Experience managing commercial and external branding in a large healthcare organization
  • 5+ years' experience with an advertising or public relations agency
  • Ability to interpret brand studies, effectively create and suggest strategies that enhance the organization's brand value at a global scale
  • Demonstrates constant curiosity & applies systems thinking in recommending solutions
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills. Believes that sharing information is a strength
  • Superb communication and presentation skills
  • Deep knowledge of the value corporate branding & sponsorships can provide to Amgen
  • Understands how to effectively partner with commercial and regional teams to find the most effective branding or sponsorship solutions that benefit the Amgen brand
  • Establishes and maintains effective, collaborative work relationships both internally and externally
  • Demonstrated proficiency working directly with executive management, including the ability to advise, influence, and coach on communication strategies around potentially sensitive issues
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; enthusiastic, team player and self-starter; serious dedication to hard work and excellence
  • Crisis management experience
  • Uses data to identify opportunities, suggests solutions and resolves problems
  • Listens and considers multiple viewpoints when determining enterprise-wide recommendations
  • Biotechnology, pharmaceutical or healthcare communications experience
