Job Details

The Sr. Manager/Associate Director, Clinical Finance Operations will ensure the overall performance and development of the Finance and Clinical operations. This role will define the business performance standards and metrics, as well as drive/create internal financial processes. They will ensure appropriate due diligence is applied to business decisions and maintain the integrity of reported information. This position plays a critical role in partnering with senior leadership in strategic decision making.

Who is Omeros?

Omeros is a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company committed to discovering, developing and commercializing small-molecule and protein therapeutics for large-market as well as orphan indications targeting inflammation, complement-mediated diseases and disorders of the central nervous system.

The company's drug product OMIDRIA® (phenylephrine and ketorolac injection) 1% / 0.3% is marketed in the U.S. for use during cataract surgery or intraocular lens (IOL) replacement to maintain pupil size by preventing intraoperative miosis (pupil constriction) and to reduce postoperative ocular pain. In the European Union, the European Commission has approved OMIDRIA for use in cataract surgery and other IOL replacement procedures to maintain mydriasis (pupil dilation), prevent miosis (pupil constriction), and to reduce postoperative eye pain.

Omeros has multiple Phase 3 and Phase 2 clinical-stage development programs focused on: complement-associated thrombotic microangiopathies; complement-mediated glomerulonephropathies; Huntington's disease and cognitive impairment; and addictive and compulsive disorders. In addition, Omeros has a diverse group of preclinical programs and a proprietary G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) platform through which it controls 54 new GPCR drug targets and corresponding compounds, a number of which are in preclinical development. The company also exclusively possesses a novel antibody-generating platform.

What are your job responsibilities?

This position is responsible for the financial reporting and analysis of clinical operations project expenses. This role will include summarizing and analyzing financial plan and financial results data for project expenses financial support and work closely with project leadership teams to more effectively achieve goals and improve processes.

  • Reviews study protocols and assists in developing study specific budgets in cooperation with clinical operations and clinical project/study management
  • Oversees the supplier/vendor selection process and contractual reviews
  • Reviews study protocols and assists in developing study specific budgets in cooperation with clinical operations and clinical project/study management
  • Negotiates and prepares for execution the contracts with vendors, consultants and sites such as Confidentiality Agreements (CDAs), Clinical Trial Agreements (CTAs), Vendor Agreements and other types of contracts
  • Partners with the Clinical Operations, Therapeutic Development, and Project Management organizations to develop and maintain all aspects of financial planning (budgets & forecasts) and month-end reporting for Clinical Development; tasks are accomplished through in-depth knowledge of clinical development programs, CMC drug manufacturing & supply, and key contract arrangements
  • Builds, analyzes and updates complex financial models for clinical development programs and drug supply/manufacturing activities, including analysis of key cost model drivers
  • Prepares monthly/quarterly cost variance analysis comparing actual program spend to budget, forecast and historical trends
  • Develops and maintains operational and financial dashboards that summarize key analyses and insights - enables business partners to make data-driven decisions for optimized financial management and project execution
  • Provide all stakeholders with accurate, timely financial information to support decision making, business driver awareness, financial reporting, and enabling compliance with policies, regulations, and laws
  • Prepares month-end cost accruals based on operational data, invoice and reconciliation tracking; partners with the Accounting and Finance organization to accurately record month-end entries in support of the preparation of regulatory & securities filings (e.g., 10-K, 10-Q and Proxy
  • Undergraduate degree with emphasis in Finance or Accounting or Life Sciences undergraduate / MBA combination
  • 7+ years of financial analysis and / or accounting experience, preferably in a 2+ years' experience managing and coaching staff 3+ years in a finance business partner role
  • Experience supporting biopharma R&D in a finance or planning role
  • Identifies and supports opportunities for process improvements within own activities and stakeholders' operations
  • Experience negotiating complex services and supplies contracts including contract review
  • Excellent written and verbal skills and the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Oracle experience is a plus
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must display strong analytical and problem-solving skills
