TheExecutive Director for Thoracic Early Asset is a critical role for Amgen's US Oncology Business Unit. The Executive Director is responsible for maximizing the value of AMG510, a novel Kras G12c molecule developed in Lung cancer, by leading the US commercial strategies and implementation for market preparedness and launch. The Executive Director will also overview, together with the Global Marketing team, the strategies and go-to-market plans for all other Lung related assets currently in development. The Executive Director within the US is a complex and demanding position and will require a strong commercial executive with excellent marketing capabilities, strong analytical skills, superior cross-functional collaboration skills, the ability to operate with highly effective influencing skills. Success in this critical role may result in significant professional growth and further advancement at Amgen. This role comes at a critical moment for the development of Amgen Oncology and, therefore, will report into the VP General Manager. The Executive Director will be a member of the Oncology Leadership Team and will have the opportunity to shape the future commercial success of Amgen Oncology.The Executive Director serves as the US Marketing lead to ensure commercial readiness and a highly successful launch of AMG510 & other assets.

Key responsibilities of this position:
  • Delivering on revenue and expense forecast expectations

  • Build meaningful pre-launch market demand
  • Achieve highly successful launch execution with rapid market uptake
  • Create excitement, externally and internally, for the AMG510 opportunity for AMGEN


Key activities and accountabilities include the following:
  • Develop and communicate commercial vision for AMG510
  • Select and develop high-performing AMG510 Brand Marketing Team
  • Lead Insight and Brand Platform creation
  • Develop and maintain core positioning and branding across multiple audiences
  • Lead development and implementation of US Commercial Plan
  • Lead development and presentation to executives on launch readiness during pre-launch phase and execution progress post-launch Lead pre-launch market-development strategy creation and implementation
  • Collaborate with Global Marketing to ensure harmonious strategic planning
  • Forge strong relationships, team building and cross-functional collaboration
  • Select and build high-functioning relationships with Agency and Strategic partners
  • Represent commercial interests for life cycle and value-extension initiatives
  • Develop US forecast in close collaboration with CS&A, Finance and Value & Access
  • Lead collaboration with Value & Access, Pricing and Finance on revenue forecast implications and tracking
  • Develop and manage US marketing outside expense budget


Basic Qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree & 6 years of Marketing experience OR
  • Master's degree & 10 years of Marketing experience OR
  • Bachelor's degree & 12 years of Marketing experience AND
  • 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience with focus on marketing or sales including developing market strategies and executing tactics, and responsibility for revenues
  • Previous experience in Oncology/Hematology therapeutic area (proven track record in Lung innovative bio-technologies is a plus)
  • A best-in-class marketer with experience developing and implementing innovative commercial strategies within highly competitive markets where innovation and marketing prowess are a key factor of success.
  • Prior experience in Consumer and Healthcare Provider marketing, strategic and tactical implementation roles, with an emphasis on uncovering novel and motivating customer insights and executing integrated multi-touch point initiatives to move an apathetic market.
  • Solid understanding of US market access, pricing and reimbursement environment.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in a matrix environment; managing projects involving multiple functions and shared accountabilities.
  • Commercial Acumen. Exceptional commercial acumen and instincts; superior strategic marketing skills; financial and business analysis competency. A strong command of classic and innovative marketing disciplines and techniques. A thorough understanding of the external environment, internal capabilities, competitors and the interests of other stakeholders. Develops and applies best practices.
