Summary:

The Senior Medical Director will function as a scientific and medical expert for the Medical Affairs department at Seattle Genetics, as well as other groups across the company. He/she will develop the overall medical affairs strategy for tisotumab vedotin and lead associated cross-functional medical affairs planning. As a part of the Global Product Team, will work cross-functionally to co-develop product lifecycle strategy. He/she will lead interactions with Cooperative groups, NCI/CTEP and other top thought leaders in the designated scientific community, serving as the primary Seattle Genetics externally facing disease state expert. This person will be responsible for providing medical expertise and leadership to the medical affairs and commercial teams and have responsibility for the development and execution of specific projects. The role will interface with multiple internal functions including medical information, medical communication, medical affairs operations, field medical science liaisons, commercial (marketing, sales, managed markets), health outcomes, regulatory, clinical development and safety as well as corporate leadership and external partners and physicians.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute product specific medical affairs strategy
  • Serve on Global Project Teams as Medical Affairs representative and medical expert
  • Help identify and effectively interact with key thought leaders to engage in scientific and medical exchange to meet the needs of oncology patients and advance the field of study
  • Serve as the medical affairs lead on lifecycle strategy, including Investigator Sponsored Trial strategy development and execution of corporate-sponsored Phase 4 studies
  • Assure appropriate close coordination with Commercial and Marketing teams to support their efforts, including medical expert support of product launches
  • Collaborate with the Field Medical Liaison team and support development of reactive scientific tools to address healthcare provider questions
  • Collaborate with Scientific Alliance Operations team to evaluate and manage Investigator Sponsored Trial efforts, including review of protocols and ongoing safety evaluations
  • Collaborate with Medical Information specialists on the development of medical information letters and documents
  • Coordinate with Clinical and Translational Medicine teams on strategic priorities and study support
  • Collaborate with Medical Communications on the preparation of manuscripts, abstracts and presentations for scientific meetings as well as other scientific communications initiatives

Requirements:
  • Extensive experience and strong understanding of oncology drug development
  • Medical degree with oncology background preferred; PharmD or PhD with extensive oncology experience considered
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Collaborative mindset and a proven track record of working effectively in diverse teams involving multi-functional disciplines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively address the scientific and non-scientific community
