Amgen is seeking a Senior Associate of IS Business System Analyst - Data Engineering and Analytics who will work on our Enterprise Engineering & Analytics (EEA) team. The Senior Associate will report to the Manager- Advanced Analytics and Business Intelligence and will work out of our Amgen Capability Center in Tampa, FL.

The Senior Associate of IS Business System Analyst - Data Engineering and Analytics is responsible for designing and implementing Big Data analytical solutions and supporting related platforms in cloud to drive Amgen's analytics and business intelligence strategy. The Incumbent will define the architecture and technical solutions to business problems that align with the overall analytics strategy. The incumbent will also identify redundancies and dependencies on other services and manage project executions with service delivery teams. EEA services include Advanced Analytics and Data Integration, Big Data technology services, Information Discovery and Search, Information Architecture, Knowledge Management (KM) and Regulated Content Management.

Key Activities for the Senior Associate include:
  • Executes on the design, development, testing, implementation, and support of key projects implementing Big Data technologies
  • Works closely with the Big Data delivery and platform teams to ensure that the applications are aligned with the overall architectural and development guidelines
  • Provides advice and support to project teams (project managers, architects, business analysts, and developers) on tools, technology, and methodology related to the design and development of Big Data solutions
  • Develops position papers, presentations, and demos to socialize with our business clients and partner IS services
  • Helps define guidelines, standards, strategies, security policies and change management policies to support the Big Data platforms
  • Researches and evaluates technical solutions including various Hadoop distributions, AWS Services, NoSQL databases, data integration and analytical tools with a focus on enterprise deployment capabilities like security, scalability, reliability, maintainability, etc
  • Advises and supports project teams (project managers, architects, business analysts, and developers) on tools, technology, and methodology related to the design and development of Big Data solutions
  • Collaborates with business partners and business analysts to translate business requirements into technical requirements
  • Estimates level of effort and hours entail for each phase of a project
  • Ensures projects and deliverables are completed on time and within budget
  • Delivers results in an environment consisting of diverse global and matrixed partners including non-dedicated resources
  • Manages relationships with internal business partners, service partners, and vendors
  • Manages risk and compliance by adhering to legal and regulatory guidelines and establishing policies and Standard Operating Procedures


Basic Qualifications:

Master's degree

OR

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Associate's degree and 6 years of Information Systems experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 8 years of Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of healthcare industry experience focused on analytics, business intelligence, reporting or data management
  • Experience implementing Big Data solutions based on Hadoop tools like Hive, HDFS and MapReduce in a live production environment
  • Working knowledge of Spark, Hadoop ecosystems, Kafka, Zookeeper, MySQL, Scala, and MongoDB
  • Working knowledge of AWS technologies such as Redshift, Athena, EMR, S3, and EC2.
  • Understanding of Cloud Technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Understanding of at least one RDBMS (Postgres, MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle, etc.)
  • Programming experience in multiple languages like Python, Java, C++, Ruby, C#, etc
  • Experience working in large scale implementations of Data Warehouse & Business Intelligence applications.
  • Experience with Data Warehouse & Business Intelligence platform such as Teradata, Informatica, Tableau, Power BI, Spotfire, Cognos, BusinessObjects, TM1 etc.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies and DevOps
  • Ability to work in a startup-like environment with little supervision
  • Ability to effectively present information for all levels, and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers
