The Commercial Business Development Senior Manager -- Project Lead is a key position within Commercial Business Development in Global Marketing. This Senior Manager will primarily focus on BD oncology opportunities, but also work support other therapeutic areas to develop data-driven and insightful commercial analyses in support of external licensing and acquisition opportunities.

The Senior Manager will work in teams within an established matrix organization, including the Commercial Business Development team, Global Marketing Therapeutic Area (TA) Heads, Franchise Strategy Committees, Global Value Payer & Access Leads, Product Teams, Business Units, Global and Regional BAI, Region BD contacts and the Corporate Strategy & Business Development Team.

This Senior Manager role will report to the Commercial Business Development Leader with a dotted line reporting relationship to the TA VP Commercial Leads.

Key responsibilities:

Develop Commercial Assessments of External Opportunities
  • Conduct desk research and internal stakeholder interviews to gain a strong understanding of the market and product opportunity.
  • Develop commercial assessments for Business Development projects across all therapeutic areas that reflect an understanding of disease area, unmet need, market trends and evolution, asset profile, competitive landscape and lifecycle programs.
  • Collaborate with Business Analysis and Insights, Global Value & Access, Center for Observational Research, Clinical R&D, Global Regulatory Affairs & Safety, Finance and other functions to inform commercial assessments.
  • Lead the presentation of an objective and informed commercial assessment, incorporating key stakeholder inputs, to the Commercial Licensing Committee.
  • Partner with regional leads, when appropriate, to ensure consistency of regional forecasts and planning assumptions across global forecasts.
  • Manage Business Development projects through rapid cycle time turn-around.


Implement the Commercial BD Process

• Comply with record keeping requirements and archiving of documents.

• Communicate regularly with Commercial BD team on BD process and sharing of best practices.

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Business Development and/or Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

OR

Master's degree and 4 years of Business Development and/or Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

OR

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of Business Development and/or Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

OR

Associate's Degree and 10 years of Business Development and/or Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Business Development and/or Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

Preferred Qualifications
  • 6+ years of forecasting, market research, marketing, or business development experience in the biopharmaceutical or other healthcare industries
  • Experience with patient-based forecast modeling including dynamic patient models
  • Working knowledge of forecasting inputs and structure, global access and reimbursement policies, and competitive environment and potential impact on product development and commercialization strategy
  • Strong oral, written and presentation skills; able to explain complex concepts clearly to a variety of audiences including senior leadership teams
  • Excellent project management and problem-solving skills and ability to focus on key deliverables as well as ability to organize and complete multiple projects efficiently and on time
  • Demonstrated analytical skills combined with a client service orientation
  • Ability to work collaboratively in team-based environment
  • Broad, working knowledge of commonly used biopharmaceutical industry databases
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically to support key business decisions
  • Ability to anticipate potential barriers and develop proactive contingency plans
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and remain flexible during unexpected changes
  • Ability to be assertive and request guidance when needed and/or escalate key issues to the Commercial BD Leader or TA head
