Amgen is seeking a Director of the Office for Commercialization Excellence to be based at our corporate campus located in Thousand Oaks, California. The Director will report directly to the Executive Director of Commercialization, Program and Portfolio Management.

The Director of the Office for Commercialization Excellence (OCE), internally known as the Director of Global Program Management, leads the team that drives the overall effectiveness of the processes and systems underlying cross-functional drug development at Amgen. The OCE provides support and guidance to product teams as they advance their assets and ensures consistency across them. The Director of OCE partners closely with Product Teams to refine how Amgen develops and executes the best product strategies and with governance bodies to ensure efficient and effective decision-making to maximize our impact for patients. The Director of OCE is an expert in change management and leads integration of functional initiatives into Amgen's drug development framework.

Key responsibilities of the Director of the Office for Commercialization Excellence include:

  • Ensures effectiveness of the framework, tools, processes, and guidance that govern drug development at Amgen
  • Leads integration of functional initiatives into Amgen's drug development framework
  • Drives excellence in change management
  • Mentors and coaches OCE staff
  • Targets communication of changes within the commercialization framework
  • Effectively manages commercialization portal showing up-to-date commercialization processes as well as resources for teams and network
  • Leads implementation of changes within Amgen's commercialization framework
  • Leads workshops to ensure cross-functional teams are trained on latest requirements of commercialization
  • Establishes standards, metrics, and operating norms to measure effectiveness of governance decision making (product and portfolio)
  • Leads communication related to changes within commercialization framework
  • Leads Commercialization Health Metrics
  • Leads career development and training plans for staff


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 4 years of Project Management experience

OR

Master's degree and 8 years of Project Management experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 10 years of Project Management experience

AND

4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proven track record in Drug Development
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Change Management/Change Leadership experience
  • Lean / Six Sigma
  • 6+ years' experience in a drug development program management role
  • Ability to provide pragmatic solutions meeting specific needs of customers and stakeholders
  • Proven record of implementing Project Management tools, methodologies, practices and infrastructure, as related to the Biopharmaceutical Industry
