We are seeking a Veterinary Sciences training coordinator who will be responsible for Responsible for global training scheduling and coordination with supervision and input from the VS Global Training Manager. This individual will be an integral part of the Veterinary Sciences group and support the advancement of in-vivo non-clinical research activities being approved by the Central New Jersey IACUCs.

Position Responsibilities

Assists in evaluating training program effectiveness and achievement of learning outcomes.

Coordinates scheduling of training and competency/proficiency appointments for VS and investigative staff.

Partners with in vivo study support program managers and coordinators for proficiency expectations of VS staff.

Maintains site specific animal training colony and provides assurance of compliance with the global training animal care and use protocol.

Maintains site specific training procedure space ensuring appropriate supplies are available and stocked accordingly.

Conducts training sessions covering species-specific biomethodology techniques with an emphasis around animal welfare and safety expectations.

Coordinates scheduling of new employee onboarding training

Responsible for developing and reviewing SOPs, checklists, and training documents as assigned.

Conducts competency or proficiency assessments of species-specific biomethodology techniques in alignment with the VS Global Training Manager.

Attends regular meetings associated with the development of the VS Global Training Program

Assists in assessing training needs, using customer outreach systems such as focus group sessions, surveys, and interviews.

Assists in developing new or refining current didactic training courses and initiatives.

Assists in conducting facility inspections and maintaining quality assurance for training.

Evaluate and make suggestions on improving biomethodology procedures and husbandry practices currently in use.

Complete and maintain proper training documents for each employee in accordance with training database(s) and employee training files.

Work with the VS Global Training Manager to identify and prioritize training needs.

Assists with IACUC and PAM member training

Competencies - Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Demonstrates competency and proficiency in various species-specific biomethodology techniques.

Demonstrates a high level ability to understand and follow SOPs and have been routinely involved with implementation of procedural changes. Demonstrates ability to consistently perform complex tasks with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Demonstrates consistent, high performance in following directions, communicating effectively, and creating/sustaining a team environment.

Demonstrates leadership capabilities including relevant experience in training, coaching, and/or mentoring others.

Demonstrates the physical stamina and dexterity needed to handle laboratory animals, including species that may be difficult to work with, and the use of personal protective equipment.

Proficiency in various computer applications and mobile devices currently used in VS and demonstrated ability to teach others their use.

Proficiency in presentation skills

Demonstrates consistent, sustained high level performance in meeting objectives and consistent, sustained high level performance in BMS behaviors.

Qualifications:

Degree/Certification/Licensure

Bachelor of Science degree in animal science or related science field with 5+ applicable industry experience preferred

AALAS certification at the Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG) level including a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in training preferred.

Must have a strong technical skill set in varying techniques in rodents, NHPs, dogs, and other species as needed. Preferred experience include but not limited to:

Rodents: Handling, Restraint, Euthanasia, Anesthesia, Dosing/Bleeds, Identification Methods, Surgery

USDA Covered Species: Species-specific Handling/Restraint; Dosing/Bleeds techniques, Anesthesia, Surgery

Must have experience with the use and maintenance of standard equipment within a research based animal facility.

Must have a history of consistent high-level performance.

Demonstrates experience with scheduling and coordination of assignment.
