Summary

We are looking for a motivated and energetic candidate to join the Transgenic Discovery team in Redwood City. This is a highly collaborative environment focused on the discovery of life-saving, biologics-based medicines. The candidate will be responsible for bridging in vivo mouse work with in vitro phenotyping and characterization of genetically modified mice in support of our antibody discovery platform and therapeutic program advancement. The position will also play a prominent role in cell line engineering projects in the antibody and therapeutic areas.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for designing and troubleshooting new genotyping assays, tracking, and managing all genotyping performed off-site.
  • Execute screening for new genetically modified mice and cell line development.
  • Perform genotyping, report and present data to support the validation of new genotyping assays.
  • Work interactively with drug discovery teams on-site to validate, characterize, and distribute mouse models that directly address drug discovery and program validation.
  • Compile data supporting phenotypic characterization and evaluation of transgenic mouse portfolio.
  • Collaborate on cell line development projects through engineering, screening, and validation of isogenic cell lines and in pooled screening applications.
  • Independence in experiment design, execution, troubleshooting, data interpretation and literature search is required.


Requirements
  • A B.S. with a minimum of 5 years of experience, or an M.S. with a minimum of 1+ years of experience with a strong scientific knowledge and research experience in immunology/molecular biology is preferred.
  • Must be well versed in mouse genetics, mouse breeding, and genotyping
  • Strong molecular biology skills including experience in genotyping methods (PCR, RT-PCR, CNV assays, DNA gel analysis) are required.
  • Working knowledge of in vitro gene expression (RT-PCR, qPCR, ddPCR or similar) and immunology assays (immunizations, ELISAs, FACS, Western blotting, SPR or similar).
  • Knowledge of cell engineering technologies, siRNA/shRNA knockdown, CRISPR-mediated genome editing.
  • Experience with multicolor flow cytometry and cell sorting including design, execution and analysis is strongly preferred.
  • Competency in data organization, e-notebook and database usage are a must.
  • Proficiency in scientific computer programs including Microsoft Excel, GraphPad Prism, Spotfire, FlowJo.
  • Position requires ability to work independently and collaboratively across a dynamic scientific environment, therefore excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong interpersonal skills are necessary.
