Job Summary

This role is responsible for leading financial planning, reporting and analysis of Amgen's Process Development (PD) organization. The successful candidate will be expected to work effectively with key stakeholders across the organization including Global Supply Chain and the R&D/Contract Manufacturing Finance teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach and mentor a team of 2 individuals responsible for the timely forecasting, reporting and monitoring of PD's operating expenses and headcount.
  • Manage execution of expense planning and reporting for the Long Range Plan, Forecast, Budget and applicable Forecast-to-Actual variance reporting processes.
  • Deliver timely and insightful expense and headcount trend analysis to senior-level executives within the PD organization.
  • Partner with the Operations Finance consolidation team and relevant manufacturing sites to manage the overall planning and close calendar for the PD Finance team.
  • Partner with team members as well as Amgen leaders across finance and Operations/Global Supply Chain to enhance reporting capabilities for manufacturing sites in Thousand Oaks.
  • Present results and analysis of PD expense performance to Amgen finance leadership.
  • Drive consistency and standardization across PD sub-functions as it relates to expense/headcount planning and reporting.
  • Deliver continuous improvements to planning, reporting and analytical operating expense processes.
  • The successful candidate will take initiative and provide leadership/support on multiple projects.

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Finance experience
Master's degree and 4 years of Finance experience
Bachelor's degree and 6 years of Finance experience
Associate's degree and 10 years of Finance experience
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Finance experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs
  • Financial planning or Cost Accounting experience in a complex Operations/Manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with change management in the areas of processes and systems
  • Problem solving and analytical skills including the ability to synthesize and manage complex data sets into meaningful and clear insights
  • Track record of identifying and delivering process and system improvements and creating a culture of continuous improvement
  • System experience: SAP & Hyperion
  • CPA preferred
  • MBA preferred
