Summary:

The Program Finance Sr. Financial Analyst is the dedicated "Product CFO" for development projects within assigned therapeutic areas, providing value-add analyses and interpretation for relevant stakeholders including Senior Management, Program Direction/Program Management, Development teams, and external collaborators. The incumbent will implement best practices to drive efficient management across their therapeutic areas; develop annual financial operating plans and deliver other financial reviews as required. The incumbent maintains a solid command of all aspects of projects; can readily identify and update assumptions incorporated in forecasts/budgets to reflect the latest information; and works closely with functional finance subject matter experts to test all assumptions. He/she uses a repertoire of financial analyses to support decision making and to validate that programs budgets are based on "realistic" assumptions.

Responsibilities:

• Own the Financial Reporting and Analysis for programs (preclinical, clinical, manufacturing) within assigned therapeutic areas including monthly actuals reporting, quarterly forecast analysis and deck preparation to effectively communicate the status of each project's/program's financial execution and variance to plan/forecast

• Own deliverables for collaboration programs within their Therapeutic Areas by working closely with Program Alliance Finance and other team members

• Analyze actual costs against budgets, track commitments and efforts with emphasis on performance against plans and collaboration agreements to ensure effective and accurate program cost reporting.

• Lead the preparation and analysis of the Annual Operating Plan, and quarterly forecast updates for assigned programs

• Provide insightful analysis of program level business results to senior management and perform ad-hoc analyses that lead to problem solving and sound business recommendations

• Work with cross-functional teams, subject matter experts and external collaboration partners to manage and communicate P&L and Balance Sheet implications; monthly and quarterly activities include working with the Accounting group to ensure accuracy and completeness of journal entries

• Work closely with the Analyst responsible for the Therapeutic Area on program workbook maintenance, accounting reconciliations, and internal cost management and story-telling

• Ad-hoc projects and analyses as needed

Requirements:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of business partners and management

• Demonstrated ability to translate financial information to non-finance audiences, including senior management levels

• 3-5+ years of (preferably post MBA) experience with forecasting, budgeting and/or business partnering ideally in a science or research driven environment

• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to translate analytical findings into actionable solutions and processes

• Bachelors degree in a scientific or quantitative field combined with top tier MBA a significant plus

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in fast paced environment

• Proficiency in Excel. Experience with Pivot tables and/or Hyperion a plus.
