Vaxart is a rapid-growth, oral vaccine biotechnology company. We are pioneering the novel use of non-replicating Adenovirus vectors as oral delivery systems for vaccine antigens.  Recently, Vaxart demonstrated that its tablet influenza vaccine had protection comparable to that of the best-selling injectable influenza vaccine. Our fast-paced clinical stage company has completed multiple clinical trials with various infectious disease indications. We are currently developing vaccines for norovirus, influenza, and HPV. Vaxart is located in South San Francisco.

Responsibilities

Our research group is seeking a highly motivated, creative scientist with cutting-edge immunology research experience.

This full-time Immunology Scientist will join the research group responsible for generating the immunological data for Vaxart’s ongoing pre-clinical studies and clinical trials.  The scientist will lead preclinical studies, design relevant experiments, manage research associates, write scientific papers and reports, and coordinate outside collaborations with academic groups.  

Requirements

The successful applicant will have expertise and hands-on experience in performing B cell and/or T cell cellular assays, running ELISA assays (or similar technologies) to determine antibody titers, and performing flow cytometric analysis. Experience performing antibody sequencing and RNA gene profiling are a plus.  Candidate will be expected to contribute immunological expertise and manage the work flow from multiple projects at once.  

Exceptional organization and written/verbal communication skills are required. Working knowledge of computer programs including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and flow cytometry and data analysis softwareare essential.

The candidate must have a PhD in a biology-related discipline, ideally with a PhD in Immunology. The candidate should be capable of working independently and as part of the team. This position has flexibility in hiring level. Applicants with industry experience or postdoctoral research training are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates interested in infectious disease research and those with some experience in supervising research associates.
