The Pre-Clinical Safety (PCS) group in NIBR provides world class preclinical safety profiling and assessment for optimal drug discovery, development and commercialization, with state-of-the-art regulatory compliance.
A Senior Investigator in the Discovery and Investigative Safety unit of the Pre-Clinical Safety group is sought to lead scientific and strategic efforts in bringing transformative therapies to patients. As an expert in Cell and Gene Therapy, you will have a key role in supporting global interdisciplinary research teams and driving innovation and scientific excellence.

As part of a global Discovery and Investigative Safety team we are currently looking for a qualified and highly motivated molecular biologist or immunologist who will:
• Work closely with global research teams to design innovative scientific approaches to be used in the assessment of novel cell and gene therapies across therapeutic areas.
• Design and oversee execution of translational laboratory-based experiments directed at elucidating fundamental and applied aspects of vector biology and immunology as they relate to drug development and safety assessment.
Collaborate with Novartis Disease Area researchers to identify potential safety issues and to enable solutions to resolve them.
Maintain scientific and regulatory expertise in the fields of drug development and safety assessment and regarding relevant targets and disease indications.
Manage the preparation and presentation of nonclinical safety data in internal and external documents with supervision or mentorship.  
Participate in cross-industry initiatives to influence emerging regulatory guidance or non-guidance driven regulatory opinion.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

DVM/MD degree or PhD in biology/medical field such as immunology, virology, molecular biology or cell biology with relevant post-doctoral or industry experience

Understanding and deep technical knowledge in Cell and Gene Therapy space

Familiarity with techniques such as genome editing/CRISPR, molecular cloning, cell culture, Elispot, Western blotting, flow cytometry, and live cell imaging is highly desired

Proven ability to work in a matrixed global organizational and scientific environment

Fluent in written and spoken English, excellent communication and presentations skills
