Key Responsibilities and Major Duties

Responsible to develop and provide strategic planning to ensure proper execution of all operational components of global clinical programs that drive value and promote excellence in accordance with good clinical practices and regulatory requirements.
Accountable for the operational execution of multiple development programs across a complex matrix including decision making and team effectiveness.
Build and lead a team of Clinical Operational Leads by creating and articulating a vision that supports and enables successful achievement of objectives aligned with GCO and R&D strategy.
Represents GCO Strategy organization as a participating member of the Development and/or Medical Teams.
Leading the shift in mindset and behavior in regards to operational excellence and continuous improvement for Development Teams and across BMS organization with the Global Clinical Strategies and Operations Leadership team.
Foster collaboration and partnerships across the matrix teams within the organization.
Accountable for building high performing teams through on-going development of performance management and coaching. This includes, taking an elevated view of performance improvement, developing new tools and change management techniques as well as developing internal change leaders capable of leading and facilitating broader cross functional transformative efforts.
Lead teams through identification and planning that optimize clinical operations effectiveness.
Collaborate and develop strategic partnerships internally within GCO, across R&D, Commercial and other stakeholders to consistently foster innovation and maximize clinical operations execution and drive corporate growth strategy.
Establish and maintain strong partnerships with CRO's, alliance partners, vendors and external stakeholders.
Oversight to vendor performance metrics (KPIs, KQIs) ensuring continuous compliance and escalations related to operational delivery. Primary point of contact for escalation issues, including development of risk mitigation strategies and implementation, as needed.
Fiscal responsibility for operational and related program budgets and overhead/operating expense
Working with stakeholders to identify, define and execute meaningful and targeted process improvement projects while providing leadership support to strategic planning efforts.
Excellent communication skills required.

Requirements

Degree/Certification/Licensure: Minimum of BS/BA Degree; Advanced degree preferred.

Experience - Responsibility and minimum number of years

Demonstrated leadership competencies and influencing skills with senior leaders and cross-functional leaders in a matrixed environment.

Builds relationships, able to negotiate & influence, and manage change in matrix environment.

Strong oral and written communication skills to influence, inform and guide global operational teams.

In-depth knowledge of ICH/GCP guidelines and FDA regulations and clinical operations development processes.

Able to identify improvement opportunities, translate into tangible initiatives and drive execution of clinical programs.

Foster partnerships across projects and multidisciplinary teams with ability to work on complex diverse opportunities effectively.

10+ years of direct experience in clinical drug development setting and at least 5 years of prior management/supervisory experience. Expertise in the oversight of clinical trials/ portfolio's with demonstrated focus on enterprise performance to bring value and efficiencies to an organization

Working Conditions

Travel Required (nature and frequency). Occasional for meetings and/or training sessions. Mostly inter-site travel
