JOB SUMMARY: 

At Nucleus Biologics, we are obsessed with improving cell culture and are looking for someone who is too! The Postdoctoral Associate will perform testing and provide scientific support for the company. This person will help establish and perform testing protocols while contributing to the growth of our fast paced, well-funded and cell culture centric business.  This individual is responsible for executing the science plan which includes characterizing product performance through various cell based assays.  We are looking for a proven performer who is process oriented, meticulous, self-motivated, has excellent communication skills and has ample experience in the cell culture space.  This individual must have experience with mammalian cell culture. Experience culturing stem cells (e.g. induced pluripotent, hematopoietic or mesenchymal) is a requirement. Immunology experience is a plus. This individual must have experience with data analysis and presenting data in a meaningful manner. 

 

II.   RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fully characterize our current pipeline and assist in development of future cell therapy-focused products

  • Design and execute project plans involving stem cells and/or immune cells (e.g. viability, transduction efficiency, phenotyping) through flow cytometry and a variety of cell based assays
  • Test products under a variety of conditions and in various cell lines
  • Analyze data and make recommendations
  • Preparation of reports and presentation of results at regular team meetings
  • Aid in scientific research and publications about our product pipeline and competing products
  • Complete scientific literature searches and analyze prior studies to understand cell culture media supplement products
  • Regularly prepare presentations and technical materials for outbound communication (e.g. blog posts, white papers, technical product notes)
  • Take part in research collaborations using our products
  • Develop and publish scientific collaborations (e.g. creating conference posters)

 

III.  REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: 

PhD in Biochemistry/Biology/Immunology/Biomedical Engineering or related field required

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Requires 4+ years’ experience in cell culture, particularly growing stem cells (e.g. induced pluripotent, hematopoietic or mesenchymal) and/or T cells.  
  • Evidence of scientific accomplishment such as peer-reviewed publications and/or conference presentations

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Proven lab and cell culture experience
  • Mammalian cell culture experience, primary, T-cell or stem cell experience a plus
  • Some experience with Prism or other data mapping applications
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to establish and maintain productive working relationships
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment consistent with Company guidelines
  • Strong process mindset

PROBLEM SOLVING AND DECISION MAKING: 

  • Develops solutions to a variety of complex problems; ensures solutions are consistent with organization objectives

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Ability to hear and speak to employees and external associates on the phone and in person.
  • Ability to see the letters and numbers on a personal computer screen and on memos, reports and other documents (near vision)

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • May require travel to and from Nucleus Biologics offices or customer/vendor locations
