Engineering is responsible for planning, design, construction, technical services, operations, maintenance and support of Amgen's world-wide infrastructure. The Sr. Manager of Business Performance and Transformation reports to the Director, Strategic Planning and Operations and is responsible for oversight of Engineering's OPEX budgets and leads the core team in corporate improvement initiatives.
  • Key Responsibilities include:
  • People Management
  • Provide mentorship to personnel
  • Prepare and ensure completion of annual goals
  • Transformation/Operational Excellence
  • Lead core team for Productivity planning and execution
  • Lead Engineering process mapping and improvements
  • Lead all Operations Awards - EIO and Ops "I"
  • Develop publicity content including monthly newsletter and material for Amgen's intranet


Financial Oversight

-Track Productivity

-Work with Engineering and Finance business partners to forecast budget

-Act as benchmark hubSupport EPD compliance

HC Management

-Actively track resource allocations and forecast

Talent Stream Planning

-Coordinate Summer Intern, Co-Op, and MIT LGO programs

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Business Administration, Engineering, or Life Sciences experience

OR

Master's degree and 6 years of Business Administration, Engineering, or Life Sciences experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 8 years of Business Administration, Engineering, or Life Sciences experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of Business Administration, Engineering, or Life Sciences experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Business Administration, Engineering, or Life Sciences experience

AND

2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Six Sigma Black Belt or higher
  • Certified Project Management Professional
  • Masters in Business Administration or Advanced Degree in Engineering or Life Sciences
  • 7 + years experience managing department budgets
  • 7 + years project management experience managing large process improvement initiatives
  • 7 + years experience working in Operations (engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality or finance) in or outside of Amgen.
  • 2 + years experience in engineering in biotech / pharmaceutical industry
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management and staff
  • Ability to effectively present information to executives
  • Ability to effectively deliver Operational Excellence or Lean or Six Sigma training to staff
  • High level of initiative and ability to work independently under general direction
  • Proficient with MS-Office applications including MS-Project, Visio, Excel, Word, PowerPoint; proficiency with IGrafx a plus
  • Strong understanding of financial and budgeting processes
