Harpoon Therapeutics is a clinical stage biotechnology company located in South San Francisco, CA. We are focused on the development of novel immune cell engaging therapeutics for oncology indications. Harpoon is looking for an energetic and highly motivated Research Associate to perform a variety of molecular and cell biology techniques, including DNA construct design and production and phage display.
Key Responsibilities
- Use protein sequences from team members to design and execute DNA construction
- Perform phage display screening
- Create detailed, accurate plasmid maps in electronic notebook
- Design and order oligos and gene blocks
- Send samples for sequencing and analyze results
- Generate lentivirus
- Infect mammalian cells with lentivirus
- Perform cell-based assays
- Present data at team meetings
- Troubleshoot routine experiments with minimal supervision and provide solutions to increase data quality and throughput
- Maintain an electronic notebook with clear descriptions of procedures and results
- Adapt to and perform new responsibilities depending on the needs of Harpoon Therapeutics
Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, or related field
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience
- A demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision
- A proven ability to learn and adapt in an evolving work environment
- Effective communication skills
The candidate will preferably have prior experience:
- Designing cloning strategies when given a protein sequence
- Making plasmid DNA constructs
- Performing phage display
- Culturing and transfecting mammalian cells
- Generating and infecting mammalian cells with lentivirus
