Amgen is seeking a Senior Associate Software Engineer who will be based onsite at its corporate campus in Thousand Oaks, CA. The Senior Associate Software Engineer will be a critical member of the Law and Corporate Compliance client facing Information Systems team, developing solutions to address critical business needs. The Senior Associate Software Engineers is responsible for designing and building secure, scalable solutions. The Senior Associate Software Engineer works with Product Owners, Architects, and within the broader team to develop, deliver, operate and continuously improve solutions in a manner that is scalable, secure, and aligns to best practices. You will work collaboratively with the cross-functional business and technology teams in an agile manner.

Key responsibilities:
  • Write code to fulfill User Stories
  • Negotiate detailed requirements with business analysts, product owners, and business partners
  • Lead the design and development of custom solutions and act as the lead technical contributor when assessing and evaluating future solutions
  • Assess and bring to bear new technologies to ensure that the solutions are stable, efficient, and responsive to appropriate business needs
  • Take ownership of relevant issues and remediate problems through to completion
  • Provide clear documentation for delivered solutions and processes
  • Analyze, design, develop and operate programs, shell scripts, tests, and infrastructure automation capabilities in an advanced security context
  • Collaborate with analysts, engineers, data scientists to deliver continuous improvement in cyber defense/resilience
  • Explore and understand new tools and techniques and propose improvements
  • Develop, implement, and sustain operational scripts, data structures, libraries and programming code that optimize security in emergent compute patterns with diverse applications throughout the global environment


Basic Qualifications

Master's degree

OR

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of application development experience

OR

Associate's degree and 6 years of application development experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 8 years of application development experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing, configuring and coding software including custom development and commercial software packages using APIs
  • Experience with integration standards, including Web Services, SOAP, REST
  • Experience working with clients and suppliers developing solutions and supporting projects from requirements gathering to release management
  • Experience with AWS and Salesforce
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines
  • Skilled programmer with experience in high level programming languages such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Visual Basic, .NET and database programming such as Oracle, SQL Server
  • DevOps experience building and deploying infrastructure with cloud deployment, build and test automation technologies like ansible, chef, puppet, docker, jenkins, etc.
  • Experience programming in compiled (C, C++) and interpreted languages (Python, Ruby etc.)
  • Demonstrable ability to adopt new technologies
  • Exceptional teaming skills encompassing multi-functional teams, peer relationships, informing, understanding and appreciating differences
  • Ability to follow SOPs, methodologies, and policies to include security policies
  • Self-starter with a high degree of initiative
  • Highly motivated and able to work effectively under minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to set the context and present on complex subjects in a clear and concise manner.
  • Experience building productive working relationships with business clients
