Summary:

Seattle Genetics is a biotechnology company focused on developing and commercializing innovative, empowered antibody-based therapies for the treatment of cancer. We are the industry leader in antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), a technology designed to harness the targeting ability of monoclonal antibodies to deliver cell-killing agents directly to cancer cells.

We are seeking a highly talented and experienced scientist with a strong cancer biology and/or cell biology background to join the Cell Biology team. The successful candidate will lead independent efforts to advance the company's drug research pipeline.

Responsibilities:
  • The candidate is expected to apply leading edge in vitro and in vivo methodologies to evaluate activity and mechanism(s) of antibody therapeutics, small molecule chemotypes, and ADCs
  • Identification and validation of tumor antigens suitable for targeting specific cancer subtypes
  • Generation and characterization of monoclonal antibodies and selection of small molecule payloads for novel ADC therapeutic development
  • Evaluate external technologies and partnership opportunities to support, build, and diversify the therapeutic pipeline
  • Present data at research project team meetings and seminars to drive recommendations for drug discovery and/or development decisions


Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in Cancer Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or related fields in cancer research. Ideal candidate will have 2+ years of biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience in cancer drug discovery (including industry post-doc)
  • Experience conducting research into either small molecule or protein biologic drug discovery and mechanism(s) of action of cancer drugs in a team environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of oncogenic signal transduction pathways involved in regulating cell growth and differentiation, malignant transformation, and drug resistance
    Working knowledge of flow cytometry and other assays to measure receptor-ligand interaction, biochemical methods to interrogate signaling pathways, as well as utilization of lentiviral and CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing methodologies
  • Experience in the design and interpretation of cell line xenograft, patient derived xenograft (PDX), and syngeneic model oncology studies to measure in vivo antitumor activity of small molecule and/or antibody-based therapeutics is preferred
  • Excellent skills in written and oral communication, organization and multitasking, and working in a collaborative and cross-functional research environment
  • A strong scientific publication record
