Function/Scope:

The Research Associate 1-2 will be responsible, for the execution of in vivo scientific research experiments relating to cancer gene therapy research.. Specific duties include conducting in vivo experiments using existing rodent models and participating in establishing new animal model capability to support the development and analyses of replicating retroviruses for preclinical product development.

Duties and Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:
  • Understand the goals of the Translational Research group and their relationship to strategic R&D and corporate goals and objectives. Develop personal goals and maintain strategies to meet such goals within set time-frames.
    • With team members, plan and execute collaborative research experiments.
    • Participates in oral presentations at the R&D meetings on all phases of laboratory and/or field experimental work.
    • Conduct experiments and prepare written reports conforming to defined documentation practices in support of regulatory filings and other company documents including well documented notebook.
    • Comply with the company safety policies and minimize risk to self, others and the environment, consistent with the community and industry standards.
    • Performs other duties as required.


Desired Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Established knowledge of discipline including knowledge of common lab animal protocols, scientific method and its applications, and vivarium practices.
    • Demonstrated potential for technical proficiency and creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought.
    • Excellent verbal/written communication skills and proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet, and data base programs.
    • Demonstrated technical capability; enjoys working in a fast paced dynamic environment.
    • Significant experience with in vivo techniques including animal handling, tumor models, necropsy, small animal surgery, drug administration, tissue and fluid sampling.
    .• Flexible and cooperative spirit with strong commitment to team efforts.

Education and Experience:
  • BS in cancer biology or related scientific discipline and/or ALAT, LAT or LATG certification.
  • One year of industrial experience.
    • Technical documentation experience is a plus.
