Summary:

The Seattle Genetics Antibody Discovery group is seeking scientifically driven and creative tumor biologist to contribute to the development of antibody-based therapeutics. The individual will conceive and execute studies to determine how the structure and biology of malignant tumors affects therapeutic antibody efficacy. He or she will innovate new antibody therapeutics that exploit multiple modes of action via the antibody backbone, target engagement, drug delivery and tumor biology. The successful candidate will work across departments and programs to understand fundamental aspects of malignant tumors and improve therapeutic design. He or she will generate the preclinical data to drive decision-making from early proof of concept to late stage scientific confirmation.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform hands-on experiments using a wide range of in vitro and in vivo techniques to assess new antibody therapeutic candidates
  • Make significant intellectual and technical contributions towards optimization of tumor targeting, while considering the malignant cell signal transduction and its control of tumor architecture
  • Expand our understanding of the intersection of tumor biology with antibody-based therapeutics in a translationally relevant manner
  • Lead and support project teams and effectively collaborate in a dynamic and fast-paced environment

Qualifications:
  • PhD in a biological discipline with 2+ years of postdoctoral experience
  • Technical experience conducting in vivo tumor models (xenografts, syngeneic and/or humanized mouse models) is required
  • Primary cell isolation/culture, multicolor flow cytometry, and/ormicroscopy is required
  • Cell biology experience with a range of 2D and multi cell type 3D assays is necessary
  • Understanding of cancer cell intrinsic control of the tumor architecture and function is required
  • Understanding of tumor initiation, transformation and evolution is a plus
  • Prior experience with antibody therapeutics is a plus
  • A strong scientific publication record is necessary
