Summary:

We are seeking an energetic, highly motivated, organized, and creative protein biochemist to assist Seattle Genetics' Protein Sciences group. The successful candidate will participate in the design and functional characterization of novel protein therapeutics and antibody-drug conjugates. The candidate will support efforts to understand the mechanisms of preclinical programs by providing protein chemistry, biochemistry, and cell-based assay support.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • A track record of generating reproducible and reliable results with limited supervision, yet understand when to seek input and when to make independent judgments
  • Proven creativity, problem-solving, and written/oral communication skills
  • Self-motivation to understand the principals of protein therapeutic biology
  • Eagerness to work in a fast-paced, flexible and collaborative team environment


Responsibilities:
  • Expression and purification of recombinant proteins from mammalian cells
  • Preparation of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) using established and experimental conjugation methodologies
  • Characterization of engineered proteins and ADCs using analytical techniques, including HPLC and mass spectrometry
  • Organization/documentation of methods and results


Qualifications:
  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Cell Biology, or a related field with 2+ years of extensive laboratory experience in an industrial setting
  • Significant experience in protein chemistry, bioconjugation, and/or analytical biochemistry is required
  • Experience in mammalian protein expression and protein purification
  • Experience with analytical characterization of proteins including mass spectrometry
  • Experience with binding assays including SPR/BLI is preferred
  • Technical expertise in flow cytometry and cell biology assays is preferred
