Responsibilities

Facilitate and Support Asset Strategy and Delivery through Project Management Tools and Processes (85%):

Scope Management:
  • Support development of the asset strategy leveraging quality decision making principles and ensure alignment and integration of strategy with the approved scope (indications, resources, etc.).
  • Ensure scope is proactively managed via the Change Management Process. Support creation of a global integrated development plan that articulates the strategy for the asset and provides the foundation for operational objectives.

Schedule Management:

  • Facilitate the execution of development project plan and delivery of project milestones
  • Hold functions accountable for achievement of key project deliverables in alignment with the agreed to development project plan and in compliance with corporate quality standards.
  • Facilitate and/or lead critical chain network builds


Communication Management:

  • Provide or drive immediate and accurate communication of key decisions/results that have team, asset, and/or organizational impact to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Work with corporate affairs and/or the issues strategy management team to manage asset related external communication.
  • Proactively communicate change in scope via the change management tool.

Cost Management:

  • Drive development of an global integrated development project budget that ensures alignment with functional representatives and business unit leadership.
  • Understand the drivers in your budget and be able to communicate to various audiences.
  • Optimize your budget and develop overall cost savings to your asset.
  • Effectively utilize resource modeling and forecasting processes and tools.

Leadership:

  • Enable cross-functional results through people utilizing influence rather than direct or positional authority (influence without authority) and by reaching across boundaries
  • Lead the project teams with judgment-based decisions
  • Adapt quickly to change and assist others in aligning with the changes.

Project Management Tools/IT Management:

  • Provide quality and timely content using project management tools e.g. critical chain reports, risk management tools, Orion status reports, budget reports , etc.
  • Utilize appropriate tools and techniques to monitor and control the project, including but not limited to: SAP, Orion, Prochain Enterprise, Critical Chain, Budget Monitor & Control, Risk Tool, etc.
  • Maintain team navigator site and ensure appropriate access for team members.

Risk Management:

  • Monitor and prioritize risk with the team and communicate status of potential risk to governance, the business unit and senior leadership as appropriate.
  • Suggest ways to avoid/mitigate risk and initiate contingency plans as needed.

Application/Improvement of Processes (Shared Learning) (10%):

The project management associate plays a leadership role as a resource to the business with regard to shared learning, process improvement, and identification of special/complex needs as they pertain to their primary responsibilities.

  • Seek opportunities to capture and share learning cross-functionally
  • Identify and bring forth areas for continual process improvement to team and function; identify methods to decrease drug development cycle times and cost
  • Participate in retrospective project/process review meetings (i.e. after action reviews) to identify issues and strengths and help capture learning
  • Liaise with Project Management Office (PMO) and with the Resource Modeling and Forecasting (RMF) Team to identify, share, and incorporate best practices into future iterations of processes, tools, training, or guidance

People (5%):

  • Reach agreement with supervisor on the alignment of the performance and development goals with the objectives of the department and the corporate business priorities
  • Model key leadership behaviors (i.e. establishing credibility, high integrity, good judgement and influence, getting results through people, conflict resolution, etc...)
  • Contribute to the development of others by being an active source of coaching and feedback to coworkers

Basic Qualifications
  • Pharm. D/Master's degree

OR
  • Four-year degree (preferably in a health-related, scientific or engineering field) with a m inimum of 2 years of work experience in the pharmaceutical industry, drug development, and/or project management
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

  • Previous experience with or knowledge of drug development processes
  • Higher degrees or certifications (e.g. MS., MBA, Masters in Project Management or PMP).
  • Experience with application of critical chain project management principles.
  • Applied knowledge of project management tools and processes (e.g. management of integration, scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk, procurement, and stakeholders as defined by Project Management Body of Knowledge).
  • Strong computer skills; skilled at using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project and capable of maintaining the appropriate project documentation in SAP.
  • Practical experience performing project management for a cross-functional project.


Additional Information
  • Day shift located at Lilly Corporate Center.
  • This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration of two years with potential to extend annually for up to 4 years.
