Job Details
Summary: Supports Bulk Manufacturing and Business Operations through the control, monitoring, and troubleshooting of biologics manufacturing processes. The Process Sciences department (Bulk) has about 200 scientists in 7 groups and is responsible for supporting multiple commercial products and clinical candidates. We work on world class problems and we need cutting edge science to solve them.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Lead the following 3 groups with > 100 scientists within the Process Sciences department (Bulk):
• IPC Strategy Development:
- Lead/manage development of effective global IPC control strategies using laboratory studies and statistical manufacturing data analysis.
- Implement/manage life cycle management strategies.
• Upstream Investigations:
- Lead/manage the Upstream cell culture laboratories, advance process knowledge for commercial and clinical processes, especially for CHO cell metabolism and modeling, and raw material variability.
• Downstream Investigations:
- Lead/manage the Downstream purification laboratories, advance process knowledge for commercial and clinical processes, especially for large-scale column performance, transition analysis and resin variability.
• Align and connect three groups within the department. Collaborate and align with scientific partner groups in Tarrytown, NY, Framingham, MA, France, Ireland and Belgium.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Demonstrated leadership skills in organizations with 75+ scientists responsible for multiple commercial and clinical products
• Excellent communication skills
• Demonstrated innovation
• GMP compliance expertise and experience with audits by Health Authorities
• Very results-oriented and organized
• Proven track record of turning science into problem solutions
Education and Experience:
• Requires PhD in Life Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry
• 15+ years of relevant experience with biologics manufacturing processes required
