AveXis, Inc., a Novartis Company , is a clinical-stage gene therapy company, dedicated to developing and commercializing novel treatments for patients suffering from rare and life-threatening neurological genetic diseases. Our initial product candidate, AVXS-101, is our proprietary gene therapy product candidate currently in development for the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy, or SMA, Type 1, the leading genetic cause of infant mortality, and for the treatment of SMA Type 2. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, or FDA, has granted AVXS-101 Orphan Drug Designation for the treatment of all types of SMA and Breakthrough Therapy Designation, as well as Fast Track Designation for the treatment of SMA Type 1. In addition to developing AVXS-101 to treat SMA Type 1 and Type 2, we also plan to develop other novel treatments for rare neurological diseases, including Rett syndrome (RTT) and a genetic form of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) caused by mutations in the superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) gene.

The Director, Business Planning and Analysis (BPA), Global Markets is responsible for business partnering, performance management and financial planning in geographies where AveXis commercializes its product through Novartis (ex-US and ex-EMEA).


  • Ensures robust processes and systems are in place to deliver smooth financial planning and reporting with consistent and timely data across AveXis and Novartis Regions / Country Pharma Organizations (CPOs).
  • Acts as an interface between AveXis and Novartis Regions / CPOs financial teams.
  • Partners with Novartis Regions / CPOs to establish robust forecasts for Budget, Latest Outlook, S&OP and Strat Plan.
  • Proactively manages performance to meet financial objectives and avoid surprises.
  • Drives productivity initiatives with Novartis Regions / CPOs to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Provides thoughtful leadership and influence executive-level decision-making through deep analytical insight into core business decisions and clear communication of complex issues.
  • Maintains strong knowledge of all relevant compliance policies (i.e. Code of Conduct, CIA, Data Privacy, SOX, etc.) and ensure compliance in all job activities. Ensures proper accounting of expense recognition for the business.


  • BS/BA Degree. MBA and/or CPA desirable.
  • 10+ years of biotech/pharmaceutical industry experience preferably supporting and partnering with Commercial department from a finance perspective.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent planning and organization skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills commensurate with the need to work closely with all departments and at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and integrity, represent the company's high ethics, moral behavior, and professionalism.
