Job Details
The Clinical Trial Business Partnerships (CTBP) team is focused on executing the business' sourcing strategy across all phases of GCO R&D development operations. This group applies a common framework to drive efficient, consistent and compliant processes for vendor relationship and management of BMS' major clinical service providers. Serving as a bridge between BMS and external services providers, the Clinical Trial Business Partnerships team is responsible for building the appropriate in-house management/oversight structure and mechanisms, while driving the external collaboration with clinical service providers in effort to yield a multitude of innovative ideas to deliver on BMS' goals.

This position reports to theHead of Global Outsourcing Management within the Clinical Trial Business Partnerships team. Key responsibilities include:
Direct management of the Outsourcing Management group under CTBP which oversees an outsourcing portfolio of $150 Million to $200 Million annually. Team comprised of approximately20 team members.
Creating an impactful vision for the function and communicates a supporting strategy with clarity, force and impact to align critical resources, management and stakeholders
Responsibility for ensuring alignment with other tangential organizations including GCO, Global Procurement, etc. as it pertains to outsourced study execution, procedures, processes and vendor interactions
Ensuring Outsourcing Management resources are effectively allocated to support the Global Clinical Operations portfolio
Monitoring trends and performance indicators across portfolio related to outsourcing management issues and successes across all contract service categories
Ensuring the Outsourcing Management team leads the outsourcing processes as per relevant strategies and scope of work to leverage our external partners or the external Contract Service Providers (CSPs) to execute the GCO portfolio
Effectively monitors outsourcing processes and ensures team compliance with BMS outsourcing and purchasing policies and procedures, ethical practices, and adherence to relevant laws and regulations
Focusing the Outsourcing Management team on business and operational process improvement to simplify processes and tools and bring new value to BMS
Anticipates needs, assesses and manages business risks and organizational dynamics as well as their implications based on developing alternate plans and choices. Assures adequate implementation / execution of plans
Takes action or makes commitments under conditions of uncertainty
Researches best practices across a variety of industries and disciplines and translates into relevant actions for improvements within BMS. Displays organizational savvy and knows how to leverage networks to bring information and points of view from different areas inside and outside the company
Knowledge & Experiences Desired
A minimum of a BA or BS Degree in a clinical or scientific discipline (advanced degree a plus)
Clinical development experience of 5-7 years required; Scientific, Financial, and business problem solving experience desired
Experience with clinical service providers: initiating, negotiating and executing legal and/or financial agreements in the clinical trials environment- biotech or pharmaceutical industry
Direct people management experience with demonstrated competencies in coaching and developing others and supporting department management activities. Proven ability to drive teams to sustain high levels of performance in a constantly changing environment
Proven experience in managing key internal and external stakeholders (including senior leaders) effectively by frequently soliciting input and gathering and incorporating feedback into processes and driving change as appropriate
Demonstrated understanding of the needs of stakeholders and mediates between the CSP and stakeholders while being sensitive to their respective unique needs. Proven ability to build and maintain relationships under undesirable and confrontational situations
Effective management of cross-functional, multi-cultural teams and demonstrated ability to work and influence within a matrix structure
Excellent oral and written communication skills and diplomacy to convey information and influence others with a strong customer focus
Demonstrates a high level of adaptability in dealing with ambiguous and complex work environment and balances multiples demands on role in a responsive and professional manner
