The Analytical Science & Imaging Department is looking for a highly motivated data scientist or bio-informatician with deep expertise and significant experience in the analysis of sequencing data to support innovative drug discovery efforts. You will have the opportunity to work in a matrix team consisting of data analysts, members of a central sequencing facility, and disease area biologists. 

 What you'll be doing

As a member of the NIBR data science community, you will also benefit from global community of more than 200 experts with extensive knowledge and resources in data analysis, data engineering and machine learning.

 Processing, quality control, and statistical analysis of sequencing data sets such as RNASeq, scRNASeq, AmpliSeq,  ChipSeq, whole genome sequencing, long read technologies (PacBio)

Development of processing strategies for new types of data by combining existing public and commercial tools with innovative solutions

Maintenance and automation of various data workflows to provide complete IT solutions 

Translation of data into biological knowledge, presentation and discussion of results in project team meetings and planning of new experiments with biologists

Close collaboration in a team of data analysts and a department consisting of analytical chemists and biologists, contribution to shaping and implementing our digital strategy and scientific processes


JOB REQUIREMENTS: What you will bring to the role: 

Scientific background with a PhD degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, statistics, mathematics, physics, or related field

 Knowledge of statistical and machine learning concepts, scientific data analysis expertise, complemented by strong visualization and presentation skills

Familiarity with UNIX and high performance computing environments and coding ability in R/Bioconductor, Python, Bash, Java, SQL, etc.

Knowledge of fundamental concepts of biology and bioinformatics, with a focus on high throughput genomics technology applications, including biological databases and web tools

Team working ability, learning agility, scientific curiosity with a problem-solving mindset, organizational skills and an enthusiastic, collaborative spirit

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to translate biologists/project team’s scientific questions into analytical strategies and methods

Our Expectations 
Postdoctoral experience with focus in genomics

Experience with single cell RNASeq data analysis

Experience with other types of Omics data and data integration

Experience relevant to drive collaborative efforts in drug discovery research projects by providing expertise in

Experience with deep learning methods

Cloud computing experience such as AWS

&Web-based deployment of models and results (shiny, rest, flask, js)
