AbbVie Immunology is expanding its early discovery at Cambridge, MA. This new research group will focus on identifying new targets for the treatment of autoimmune and chronic inflammation diseases through computational analysis of human disease tissue derived datasets, and validating targets using in vitro and in vivo experimental approaches. We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to develop biochemical assays and cell-based assays for target validation. Experience and aptitude in exploring the protein kinases and signal transduction pathways are highly desirable. This position requires passion, attention to details, hands-on experience and teamwork spirits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ability to conceive/propose and develop biochemical and cellular assays to probe target biology.
  • Experience with cell isolation/manipulation is required, and a proven background in primary and recombinant cellular assay development is a must.
  • Ability to identify, develop and optimize new methods/assays to generate reliable and reproducible data in a timely manner.
  • Experience in modulating immune system signal transduction pathways and knowledge of flow cytometry techniques is desired.
  • Troubleshoot effectively and think proactively.
  • Additional responsibilities include the analysis, interpretation and presentation of data and results in the lab meetings and project team meetings.


Position will be hired based on level of experience.

  • BS or MS in Immunology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or a related discipline with 3-5+ (BS) or 0-2+ (MS) years of relevant industry/academic experience.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organization skills are required with proficiency in data analysis software.
  • The ability to prioritize effectively within a multi-task environment is critical.
  • Experience in immune assay development and/or a background in medium-throughput screening of small molecule compounds is a plus.
