Job Details

The Clinical Services Program's primary mission is to perform sequential studies of immune function in patients with cancer, AIDS, chronic granulomatous disease or other diseases associated with immunologic dysfunction, as well as to monitor viral load in patients with HIV.

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform research and/or development in collaboration with others for projects
  • Make detailed observations, analyzes data and interprets results
  • Investigate, create and develop new methods and technologies for project advancement
  • Maintain high level of professional expertise through familiarity with scientific literature
  • Participate in scientific conferences and contribute to scientific journals
  • Be responsible for identifying patentable inventions
  • May act as principal investigator in conducting own experiments

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in a field related to biomedical research (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education). Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency.
  • In addition to the educational requirements, a minimum of eight (8) years related biomedical experience
  • Detailed knowledge of vaccines, immunology, and virology
  • Expertise in tissue culture and immunological/virological techniques, including:
    • aseptic techniques, cell line maintenance, production of plasmids and virus-like particles, western-blot, ELISA, Luminex assays, flow cytometry, virus neutralization assays and PCR
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • MS in immunology, vaccinology, virology or molecular biology
  • Experience in HPV research
  • Experience in assay development and validation under GCLP or GLP environment.
  • Experience with large data sets, statistics, software tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with robotics
  • Knowledge of the regulatory requirements in vaccine development
