The Undergrad Coop will work closely with a multidisciplinary team at AML 6 multiproduct facility. The purpose of this project is to implement various equipment monitoring tools and downtime reduction initiatives that were the result of a detail equipment assessment from previous years. This task will include initiatives that will expose the candidate to several learning experiences like project management, learning and understanding of the functionality of new in process testing equipment and the use of innovation to generate new equipment monitoring tools.

The project will also include working with the sustainability activities of AML6 Scrap Avoidance and Value Engineering (SAVE) program; this is Amgen's network first organized process equipment repair program with accounted scrap avoidance benefits.

The Undergrad-COOP will apply the skills learned at the university in the pharmaceutical industry and learn new ones from hands on experience of work assignment. Key skills include but are not limited to: communication, planning, organization, problem solving, team-working, data monitoring etc. This role will work and/or support real projects under supervision and guidance of highly skilled professionals that will help student to gain practical experience in the pharmaceutical field.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide support on the Scrap Avoidance and Value Engineering (SAVE) process
  • Implement innovation initiatives for equipment monitoring
  • Increase Meter based maintenance and predictive maintenance (PdM) initiatives
  • Monitor and evaluate possible improvements for equipment success rate within the following key indicator metrics;
  • Equipment Failure NC Reduction
  • Equipment Failure Events
  • Equipment downtime events
  • Successful clean in place (CIP) execution
  • Successful equipment Pressure Test execution

 


Basic Qualifications

 

 

  • At least 3.00 GPA (General)
  • Be in the process of earning a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering
  • Have completed at least 3 year of college education
  • Be enrolled in university

 


All individuals applying for an internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen need to meet the following criteria:

 

 

 

  • Have not graduated yet
  • Be pursuing an applicable degree or course of study


Preferred Qualifications

 

 

  • Availability to start in the assignment on June 2019
  • Be enroll in school under a Coop program
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Visual Basic programing knowledge
  • Project Management
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Able to work with minimum supervision
  • Well Organized
  • Oriented to meet milestones and deliver high quality results
  • Enthusiastic about learning new concepts and work processes
  • Proficient in the following software: MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
